Autopage 1100 + iData Link
1 - what is your recommendation for remote start? Autopage 1100 vs Python 991 vs Viper 5901? with all those, can i use the iData Link?
2 - i was on their website and i am so confused as to all the modules they carry. which one do i need for the key bypass? which other modules do you recommend?

iDatalink modules come in a couple of flavors. The Multi series do not come with any firmware
flashed on them. You would need the the ADS USB cable ( $60 ) to flash the firmware onto to
them. The advantage is 3 modules can handle most any vehicle ( loaded with the correct firmware ),
The Solo series comes pre-loaded. For your Sequoia the most cost effective choices would be the
ADS TB flashed with ADS TB TL firmware or the ADS TBSL TL which comes pre-loaded with
the correct firmware. These modules would only handle the transponder bypass function.
You can definitly use the iDatalink bypass module with any of the remote start units you listed.
The W2W method involves connecting 3 wires to the remote start unit instead of the D2D cable.
Everything else is the same.
Fortin does not list a module for your year Sequoia. DEI lists their XK05 with the PKT2 firmware
( which is flashed with their XKLoader cable ). The iDatalink module is an easier install because
all wires are at the steering wheel. The XK05 has wires going behind the glove box and behind the
instrument cluster.
Sorry, can't offer any recommendations on the remote start units listed. (I use Ultra Start

kreg, thanks for such a through response. i think at this time i may be leaning towards the python 991 remote start because we had such good luck with our last one over the past 4 years. which module do i need to purchase for the alarm? isn't there 2 different ones? one that i lose a key and one that i don't lose a key? my valet will be going in there so i don't mind losing a key.

If you don't mind losing a key you really don't need to get a Idatalink bypass at all. You need a keybox, like the DEI 556UW. The key goes in the box and takes place of the bypass. This is a lot cheaper route if you already have the spare key. Be sure to connect keysense...

iDatalink does not make a "Key in the Box" style bypass module. All of theirs are the "No Key Required" style. You could buy a DEI 556u Universal bypass module ( Key in the Box ) for around $20 but then you would be giving up a key and perhaps compromising the cars security ( unless you cut the blade ) in the process. The ADS TBSL TI iDatalink module is about $40 but will provide better security and not give up a key.

you guys are so fast to respond and awesome. looks like my security list looks like this
python 991
dei 556uw
battery backup
anything else you recommend for this list? keep in mind that this is more for convenience for us than security. for example, i would normally get the piezo siren for inside, but sometimes we will leave the engine running with the kids watching a movie and lock the car while we run in real quick, and i don't want that blaring in their ear if they accidentally set off the alarm. (please no parenting in this post ;-)
is $120 a reasonable price on this for installation? for that price, i don't want to deal with running into wiring issues, since i am not well versed in this type of installation.

is it worth it to upgrade to the python 1091 or viper 5902 for the extra $130? what am i getting extra besides the color remote? the 991 or 5901 i can get for just over $200.

This installation is an easy one, but connecting the locks can be tricky for someone not used to them. It requires you running 2 wires into the drivers door and adding a relay and 2 diodes....

the xpresskit will work, you just need the correct firmware. As kreg mentioned, you can get a specific bypass flashed with the correct software already for the toyota from idatalink.
Another route is the key override all from fortin, 35 bucks is the cost of the module and easy to program/install as idatalink. whatever is cheaper for you, then you can pick. ------------- Ted
