97 Monte Carlo Alarm Removal? Or Not

can anyone help me.  i have a 1997 chevrolet monte carlo ss and while i was trying to figure out why my rear running lights and my guage lights werent working i found that i had a code alarm alarm system installed in my car, and i never knew it!!  if i want to use this alarm, what do i do, can you get the deactivators for this type, how do i uninstall it..............................?

please help!!!  also if anyone knows what my lighting problem could be please let me know!!!! any help is already greatly appreciated!!

If you turn off the caps-lock, a lot more people will want to help you.

If you go to www.remotesunlimited.com, you can type in the FCC ID number from your alarm brain, and see how much new remotes would cost.

If your parking lights and dash lights don't work, your 20-amp TAIL fuse is probably blown. You can replace it, but it will blow again if the problem is not corrected.

Do you have an aftermarket radio installed? There is a parking light wire at the radio plug, and if it shorts to ground, the fuse will blow.....if you have an aftermarket radio, that's the FIRST place to look.

Also, the parking light wire on a Monte Carlo is brown, and the light-flash output from your alarm is probably white. It might be a good idea to find where the alarm is connected to the parking lights, and make sure the connection is taped up neatly.

If you're not going to use your alarm, disconnect its light-flash output from your car, just in case this is why the fuse is blowing.
