Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to re-install a new siren on my Pontiac Sunfire 1999?  My old siren went dead somehow and I ordered the same exact one.  I tried connecting the wires exactly like before but it does not work.  The alarm gives off a soft alarm ring when I connect the wires at the point where I snipped off the old ones.  I am a total novice when it comes to this so any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

If its the exact same siren and the color codes where you reconnected the siren match then it might be in the alarms' driver output. Try this, disconnect the siren again and run the siren directly to the battery,if the siren sounds normal, then its in the alarm module. If it doesnt you may have gotten a bad siren.

When you say in the alarm module, what exactly do you mean?

The alarm brain itself.

The control Module (your alarm SYSTEM) under the dash somewhere. If its out of warranty, you'll have to pay for a new one!(it cant be fixed unless you send it back to the manufacturer)

Thanks, I think it is the alarm module.  I took it to a alarm installation place and the guy said the alarm I have is a cheap dealer installed one.  I'll either have to bite the bullet and buy a new or just not have one.  Is this something easy I can just wire up myself?
