Antenna placement is about the only option you have.  Where is it now?

make sure antenna cable is stretched all the way out

The cable going from the antenna to the brain is just a data cable... stretching it out will make no difference.

Have you tried placing the remote to your chin?   It works.

Yes it work's off the conductivity of the jawbone acting as an antenna booster.

I have found that this particular alarm system does not provide very good two way communication. In addition, if there is tint on your windshield where the dipole antenna is placed, that will also diminish reception.

Place the remote on the bottom of your chin.  Then press the button.  Depending on your height, this can almost double your range.

Of course if these people were installing GPS, or old school radio telephony or even back to CB radio they would have learned the basics:
The higher the better
It can't see through metal
Ground plane
Of course these factors also apply to proximity detectors at 44ghz.

When you come to think of it, isn't this another "trick" every pro already knows about?
about 18 years ago we used to stick a tiny button cell on the end of the 12volt battery on Clifford G1/2/3 remotes.
Or connecting the ground lead first on everything except a jump start.
Or the LS Lexus we had a few months ago, 1 Key and the immobiliser wouldn't release. We disconnected the battery and shoved the leads together, problem solved.

Yes but you're still a baby, but extremely competent, also how many "old school" specialists on the Island, bet they all went to England or the US! One of my first mentors in 1973 was from the Carib, Simon de Souza, big black guy, was he good.
And yes you are most definitely a pro.
