2011 ford fusion remote start issue

Hello All,

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion with the I4 engine. I am using a Astrostart 2524 RS unit with and Expresskit DBALL bypass. The bypass is connected via d2d and only provides securelock bypass.

If I drive the car during the day the RS will work fine, however if I let the car sit overnight it will fail to start in the morning indicating the engine is already running. The tach wire from the RS module is connected to the yellow/orange of injector 1.

It appears that if the car sits for a long period of time the RS is detecting some sort of unknown signal from the injector.

Any ideas?

All 2011 Fusions have factory anti-grind. Does your remote start have a tachless/hybrid mode? If yes, put your remote start in this mode and bump up the crank time to the maximum.

It has a hybrid mode that you can put it in and ground the tach wire, which will make the the unit send a 5 second crank. The only problem with this is the RS will be unable to detect failed starts and try 30 seconds later 2 times as it would with a monitored tach lead.

A little more research on my part has netted a bypass module from Fortin Electronic Systems https://ifar.ca/en/products/evo/evo-all/ which supports a tach out on the fusion where the current one from Xpresskit does not.

If you set your unit for 5 second crank and the db-all is doing it's job then there will be no reason for a failed start(unless there is something wrong with the car itself). All the "Ford" remote starts put in all new Fords are recommended to be installed this way. Also, if your intent on using a tach input you should try switching to a wire on one of the coil packs.

Thanks Beegbie that works, however without the tach signal I can not have the RS take over while the car is running and then remove the key. I think what I will do is confirm that the Bypass module from Fortin will support all the features it says it does and then look at getting the shop who did the install to replace the bypass.
