So i'm installing an alarm on this guy's 2005 tundra, it's the base model/access cab but it has the big v8. anyways, according to the install diagrams provided by this site the parking light wire is green in drivers kick, i confirmed that by checking the diagram in AllData AND checked with a test light. so, tell me why when i apply 12v directly to this wire from the battery, do the parking lights not come on? there are no diodes in the wiring diagram

Try the lighting switch, the colour seems right.
------------- Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Is it a Standard/Access Cab model or the Double Cab?
Here is some additional info from Bulldog Security on the Standard/Access Cab models: NOTE *1 the PARKING LIGHT wire is in the LARGE harness heading to the rear of the vehicle in the DRIVERS KICK PANEL. You will find a heavy gauge GREEN wire and a thin GREEN wire, use only the THIN GREEN wire.
AudioVox also lists a RED / Black (-) Parking Light wire in the steering column harness for those models.
If it is a Double Cab try to find the (-) Parking Light wire, Green, at the headlight switch. ------------- Soldering is fun!

Yep, only the double cab has the parking light wire in the kickpanel. You can also get it behind the dashlight potentiometer left of the column, green wire.

yeah, okay this truck had the shortest cab possible, nothing behind the bench seat. im currently tapped into a heavy gauge green wire that tests correctly with the test light. so i should locate the thin green wire? this is a positive wire as well?
