Subject: 02 nissan maxima trunk release

I installed a compustar 600s into an 02 Nissan Maxima and the only part i cant get is the trunk release. I used the violet with white wire of the alarm which sends out a negative and the blue wire of the vehicle. The wire is right because when i give it ground the trunk opens but for some reason when i use the violet and white wire nothing happens. I also tried it with a relay and everytime i tried to do it nothing happens. I noticed that when i press the trunk release button on the remote the wire gets a signal but when i connect it to the relay and check to see i get nothing out that wire weird. Any advance would help and thanks in advance.

Car side of blue to 87a
Trunk side to 30
Good ground to 87

The reason being that the blue wire need a higher current than any alarm-R/S trunk output can provide so your using the relay as a current amplifier.

I wired it that way so the lead stays as original, that is like a 4 wire door lock.

That should be direct negative trigger dei's 200ma output on the trunk release suffices for that purpose.

Yes Darren but according to Directwire, it's high powered, more than any neg. aux will handle so it needs a relay.

I've seen an Autostart trunk release output fry on a 2002 Maxima trying to open the trunk. Use a relay to boost the signal and I also 5 wired the connection to isolate the switch from the motor.

I was about to have a go at you Jeff 'cause I already mentioned 87a and thought I said 5 wire but obviously I wrote 4 wire,,,FAIL.
I think 5 wire is a horrible expression, can't we say "switching motor wires" or "relay interrupt".

Must be different here, cause i'm pretty sure i did it without a relay.

On that note howard i have a question, have you ever seen a scubie with seperate locking modules one for thd driver door and another for the other three, well i've had to five wire four legacies like this with four relays in each instance,  all info says negative trigger but for the life of me i can't find a negative trigger anywhere, but the info has to be erroneous for this vehicle because i tested in four different legacies the same type and age, there are relays for the driver's door built into the driver controls and the second unit inside to the left of the driver steering column in a BCM. Took me nearly half day on the first occasion testing and looking around for some other way, until i decided to do five wire motor interrupt.

Over here the Impreza had only a switch in the driver's door till about 2000, then went to 1 wire, ground to lock open circuit to unlock (or vice versa, I can't remember), a small module directly above driver's right knee.
Earlier versions mainly grey imports also has Japanese installed keyless entry, the control unit was in the right hand K/panel and you had to 5 wire it. Some Legacies/Foresters had the 1 wire system in the early 90s.
I've seen this problem with a late Toyota Previa where I found the motor wires, the lock switch was data, unfortunately those wires only did the front doors, I had to parallel them for the tailgate and rear sides.
since the company is now owned by Toyota I wonder if they are now using the relay and 2 x diode system as used by some Toyota models?

Do you know that you have the right wire ? There are two wires that I remember in the same loom that are the same colors. Just asking...
