I recently installed a prestige remote start system on an 08 Dodge Avenger. I used the fl can bypass and the flchh wire harness and the install went fine. But the customer is calling back saying the horn is going off from the factory alarm.  What is the bes way to solve that on this car?   Some info says you can only disable the factory alarm with the factory remote.  Audiovox tech said i could have the dealership disable the alarm all together.  What should I do????????

When is the alarm going off?  When the car is remote started?  Did you set the remote start to "Unlock before start and re-lock after start"?

The FLCAN flashed with the FLC-AL(DL)-CH5 should handle the factory alarm.  The latest install guide ( #3307 ) shows it as a Type 2 install.  I would re-flash the module with the latest firmware and re-install following the guide in W2W mode.

thanks Kreg, and yes the alarm is going off after it is remote started.  I had theis problem with a Jeep cherokee also and yes it is flashed with the latest software.  So you think I should go with whe w2w option huh? I agree but it seems like a lot of work.  I wish it said something in the manual so I didnt have to do it twice.

I took another look at the manual for the flcan and i guess it isnt that much extra work.  I sure hope it works.  Does anyone else have this problem on Chrysler Dodge or jeep vehicles? How do u do most of your installs Kreg? w2w or data?  Thanks everyone.

Always W2W.  Takes longer but  "soldering is fun" and W2W always works.  I've done a few 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravans with factory alarm using the ADS CH4 firmware.  On those vans, the alarm only goes off when you open a door.

Did you try the "unlock before and re-lock after remote start" setting?  Hopefully the customer doesn't mind the car being unlock for a few seconds during remote start.

this was a stand alone remote start so i cant do the unlock and relock thing.  I will consider doing w2w for now on  thanks a lot
