Hi all,

I've got a older GM VSL4200 I would like to put in my truck, primarily for keyless entry.  I've read this may be a clifford, or a hornet alarm but I can't find and exact wiring diagram.  If anyone can post or refer me where to look it would be appreciated.  Thanks

could you post a pic of the brain and remote?
if it is a gm unit, it very likely to be a code alarm system.
what year and vehicle did it come out of?

It didn't come out of a vehicle.  I got it for almost nothing on fleebay.  It's designed to be installed on 99 and up silverado pickups.  The brain plugs in to a harness adapter that integrates into the TCBM.  Obviouisly this won't work in my 94, so I was just going to hard wire it in, based on wire function from the brain.  As you see its a GM aftermarket product.  I've read that DEI makes them and have also read it could be a hornet.  I haven't been able to find an exact match for the colored wires on the 12 pin connector.

It is  made by DEI and is the same as the Automate AM5. The only difference is the harnesses have different color wires. I can get the 12 pin colors today at work...

Ok so i've installed the alarm and everything works properly with the exception of the unlock function.  When unlock is depressed the system diarms and the on board relay triggers, but the doors don't unlock.  I metered the unlock common output and found that it's not putting out any voltage when the unlock button is depressed.  Can I test this relay on the alarm itself or should I just assume its bad.  Can the relay be replaced or should I just replace the whole module?  I installed the alarm using the VSC 4000 manual found here:  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=706.  Thanks for any help.

I figured it out.  The unlock input was connected to ground at the harness.  I spliced it to 12v positive and unlock now works...
