Subject: what is this key fob?

My wife and I just bought a 2007 Toyota RAV4 Sport today. It's the 2WD 4cyl model. It came with 2 sets of keys and key fobs. The keys have heads with buttons on them for keyless entry. The car does not have an alarm as I rolled down the window, "armed"/locked the car, and reached through the window and opened the door. No alarm sounded, the door just opened. I don't believe the car comes with a stock transponder / immobilizer either since I made a copy of the key at a hardware store and it starts the car even with the factory key and the mystery fob in the house. I went for a drive to be sure I was way out of range of any transponder chip (although their range is like an inch typically). I took the mystery key fob to the Toyota dealer and they said it's not a Toyota product and they thought it looked like a transponder fob for an aftermarket immobilizer. Sooo, what do you think it is? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

By the way, there are no buttons on this device, it just has an LED for a low battery indicator and a decorative chrome trim along half of the exterior. Also, as you can see in the photos, there are no brand stamps anywhere either.

It is an early warning Lojack. Contact Lojack and give them your VIN, see if you can get it activated....

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I had no idea what it was. I'll have to give LoJack a call as suggested. I'm wondering if there's some monthly fee for having it registered and active or if it's a one time fee when it was installed. I suppose I'll find out soon enough.
Awesome forum & once again, thanks.

Just a follow up in case anyone else ever has the same questions...

LoJack Customer Service :1-800-4-LOJACK

Fax copy of driver's license & registration with car in your name to 866-756-5225 to transfer system to your name so you are registered as the new owner of the vehicle.

One time transfer fee of $99 and it includes them coming out to inspect the system to make sure it’s working properly

If you have the early warning package it’s also $99 to transfer and $199 if you want them to give you an extra key fob.

Once registered you can set up an online account at their website.

If you don’t want to use the early warning feature (don't want to carry around the extra key fobs) you can call them and they can shut off the phone/message alerts that are associated with the car moving without the LoJack fob in it.
