Hi guys, i need some help with my Viper 5701 on 02 5.5 Maxima.
Problem 1: RS Doesn't Work
When pressing the Remote Button, motor doesn't crank. Because of the Flex Relay onboard the 5701, I guess it could be a wiring issue. Here's what I've done.
-Installed PKN2 Imobilize Bypass and believe it has been wired and programmed correctly based on the instructions given.
-Heavy gauge wires (10 Pin Harness) are wired as follows:
Pink/Ign1: wired to Blk/Yel
RED / Wht: no connection
Orange: wired to Wht/Blue
Violet: wired Blk/Red Engine side
Green: wired to Blk/Red Key side
Red: wired to Blue wire Constant +12V
Pink/Wht: wired to Red Wire [this wire is little confusing. according to the wiring color informatin, Red wire is an accessory wire but I've seen DIY instructing to wire the alarm's Ign2 to it(https://maxima.theowensfamily.com/viper791xv/)]
Pink/Blk: No connection. I tried to connect it to the Max's Red wire to see if RS would work but no luck.
RED / Bld: No connection.
Note 1: Feature 2-9 Flex Relay Function has been set as Ignition 2.
Note 2: 2nd Starter wire on the Max (Blk/Wht) has been cut and tapped to the alarm's Purple(Violet) wire).
Note 3: Car will crank and start with key but will not crank when attempting to remote start the car with transmitter with key inserted near the NVIS.
Note 4: Neutral Safety Swtich that came with the alarm has been connected ALONG with tapping the NSS input wire to PIN 44 of ECM.
When pressing the transmitter's RS function, the Viper 5701 appears to try to start the car but failed to crank.
Problem 2: Doors Won't Unlock/Lock with Disarm/Arm
Something funny is going on here. The locks will lock/unlock with driver door open BUT NOT with the doors closed. Door pins are dioded isolated. The alarm seems to arm and disarm as fine.
Problem 3: Continous "error" LED indicator on the transmitter
Not sure if this an alarm issue or not but function LEDs do not indicate when a button is pressure. Instead the "f" LED is lid solid and top center LED would flash and sound for about 2-3 seconds. According to the Owner's manual, it appears to be outputting an error message. This same phenomenon is seen when Arm and Disarm buttons are pressure.
Thanks in advance for any expert advice anyone can offer even though I am still whatever diagnosis I am capble of on my own. I've installed RS/Alarm (less complex than the Viper 5701) before on a Camry and Taurus where they all turned to function intended so this is not entirely new to me even though I may not be a professional installer who does this kind of work for a living.

Here is a link to Bulldog Security for their wiring guide : https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp According to them, your car has one Ignition, one Accessory and two Starter wires.
Here is how H3 should look. H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT BLACK / YELLOW H3/2 RED / WHITE (30A) FUSED IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY INPUT 87 Blue H3/3 ORANGE ACCESSORY OUTPUT Red H3/4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT (CAR SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL WIRE) BLACK/ Red car side H3/5 GREEN (+) STARTER INPUT (KEY SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL WIRE) BLACK/ Red key side H3/6 RED (+) FUSED (30A) IGNITION 1 INPUT Blue H3/7 PINK/WHITE (+) IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY OUTPUT BLACK/ White *set for STARTER2 H3/8 PINK/BLACK FLEX RELAY INPUT 87A key side (if required) Not Used H3/9 RED / BLACK FUSED (30A) ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT Blue H3/10 N/C N/C Not Used
Additionally, there is a Accessory2 wire that should be powered. This will require a 30/40 Amp SPDT relay and a inline fuse holder with 20 Amp fuse installed. Wire as follows Relay Pin 85 to Viper Remote start auxiliary output, 5-pin connector Pin 2 Orange (-) 200mA Accessory Output Relay Pin 86 and 87 to +12v constant thru fuse Relay Pin 30 to Maxima Accessory2 WHITE/ Blue at ignition switch Relay Pin 87a not used - insulate
AudioVox has a completely different list of wire colors for the 2002 Maxima. You will need to use your DMM to check and verify all wires. Here is a link to AudioVox : https://techservices.audiovox.com/Login.aspx ------------- Soldering is fun!

thanks Kreg357. I will give it a try (incl. re-verify all the wires with DMM again since wire color codes between bulldog and audiovox are not consistent) when the temperature gets a little warmer later today or the next couple of days.
As for H3/7 Pink/White Flex Relay Output, would you know if it's possible to set this wire as Accessory 2 to power that 2nd Accessory wire on the car side instead of having to wire in a relay? I jumped the H1/3 Violet (+) Starter wire to the vehicle's BLACK/ White wire and the car seems to start fine with the key.
Any insights on Problem 2 and 3? Or you think [though i think it is doubtful] it could be caused by incorrect ignition/rs harness wiring?

The Flex relay H3/7 is being used for the cars second starter wire, as per my first post. ( The Flex relay can be used for IGN2, ACC2 or Start2. ) If the car has two accessory wires, then the extra relay is required. It's never a good idea to connect one remote starter output to two seperate wires in the car. The manufacturer designed them to be seperate for a reason.
As for the other two issues, they seem connected. Perhaps you could list the Vipers' Lock, UnLock, Arm, Disarm wire connections to the car.

thanks for the clarification.
For problem 2, Door Lock harness is wired as follows:
Alarm's green wire to ORANGE / Black at the driver side master window/door lock control switch.
Alarm's blue wire to ORANGE / Blue at the driver side master window/door lock control switch.
The Viper 5701 set to Double Pulse Unlock.
The alarm arm/disarm wires are not connected since I don't it is required the car arms with lock and disarm with unlock.
About Problem 3, some people (my internet search) had experienced that same issue thought that it could be due to low battery OR possible to the FOB transmitter. The batteries on my 2-way FOB transmitter are fresh so I am kind of leaning towards the FOB transmitter itself. By the way, "error tone" is heard not only for arm/disarm function but also true for Remote Start and others as well.

got the RS to work for short period of time....BUT
On last remote start test, the alarm started going crazy where siren goes off (with clicking noise inside the alarm brain) in 1,2,1,2,... internal with the D2D cable connected from PKN2 module to the alarm brain. Key FOB disarm was ineffective. So does using the "Manual" disarm override. Tried resetting and reprogramming the PKN2 without luck.
Does anyone know how to do a hard reset to the alarm brain?
Thanks for all your help.
I am starting to think the alarm brain that I got is defective.
