Hi, I have a spread spectrum 2WSS-AS car starter/alarm with a CM3000 brain in it. My remote is broken, and not available anymore. What are my options to replace the remote? I did read a few forums on here, and there was discussion of getting a 2W900FMR replacement remote, but online there seems to be a 3A and a 5A choice. What is the difference? And which antenna module is needed in conjunction? Thanks for your help, in advance

And another question.....is the 2W900FMR a spread spectrum device? If not, what is the range compared to the original one (that's now broken)?

The 3A will work for the CM3000 brain, the 5A won't.  You will probably need the whole Remote Kit due to the different style antenna.

Range will be around 3000 feet.  It is not a spread spectrum device.  Best advice is to call Compustar and get their recommendation, or ask at a local authorized dealer.

You might be able to find a used or old stock item "online".

Thanks for the info on the 3A. Now, what is the whole Remote Kit?

Compustar sells their products as seperate items in the US.  You buy the control unit, either Remote Start or Remote Start with Alarm.  Then you buy the Remote kit, which consists of the antenna, the antenna harness and the specific style of remote(s) you want.  The remote kit must be capable of interfacing with the control unit, in your case the CM3000.
