I notice on some of the wiring diagrams the use of an inhibit wire that is utlised when using the OE handset on some upgrade alarm systems.

The alarm that I currently use that uses the OE handset has a set and unset wire and a common wire. The common wire is used to choose which polarity the set/unset wires will acceprt to turn on and off. On most vehicles wherever possible I try to tie into the deadlocking wires so if a window is smashed, the door lock buttons cannot be pulled up and the alarm disarmed.

On the systems that use an inhibit wire - what do you connect this to??

I would guess it would go to the unlock wire on the microswitch on the drivers door. Therfore, if the unlock command wire receives a signal at the same time as the inhibit wire ( as if the key is being turned in the door) the alarm will not disarm. - Does this sound feasable???

Hey  naughtydog,

By George he's got it!  Yes the inhibit basically prevents the the interior door lock switches from disarming the system.  However the key in the door should allow disarming (if possible).  posted_image
