I just had a viper 5501 remote starter installed in my 2009 jetta and when ever the remote starter starts it unlocks the doors but does not relock them. Does the jetta require a unlock before start or did the tech just not program it properly. Also the 2way does not confirm the start of the vehicle it just starts and thats it.
Thank you

Sounds like the Viper system needs the settings to be changed (reprogrammed). No biggie.

I have a feeling the unit itself only locks!

Thanx for the input, I have found on this site that the 5701 install manual is the same as the 5501 just with an alarm. Is this true or can someone find me the install manual for the 5501. Another problem I have noticed is that I dont get a remote start confirmation unlike all of the other 2 ways I have used. Anyone else experience this? Or does it just assume it starts and if not you will get the start error message...

It's a very basic unit you would have to add a siren or relay the horn honk.

5501 does have an option for horn honk. Needs to be hooked up though and I think programmed for it. Should be able to change the lock settings too like I said before. Take it back to your installer and tell them.

the remote start confirmation I am talking about is on the remote, on my truck I get the confirmation that the vehicle recieved the command then once its started I get confirmation back. With the viper all I get is the send command but never a vehicle running confirmation on the 2way remote
