Hi All, I appreciate the help in advance and I hope I explain all the issues in the beginning.

I have a 2002 Impala that I am installing a remote start on for my father, the Unit I am using is a Piece of junk Ultrastart 1270tl.

I purchased and installed a Direct Electronics 555l by pass kit, I have hooked it up as the directions stated , but just to confirm I left the white wire of the vehicle untouched, I used the black wire of the vehicle and tapped into it with the black wire of the unit, the yellow wire of the vehicle was cut and key side was ran to the yellow wire of the 555l and then the BLACK / YELLOW wire of the 555l was routed to the yellow wire heading towards the bcm. After I hooked it up I did the learning procedure and it continues to start with the key with out a problem. However when I try and use the remote start it illuminates the dash like its about to crank but it doesn’t. There is no security light illuminating on the dash.

This makes me think I have an issue with my wiring….which I hope not but I will illustrate what I did and hopefully you guys can break it down for me…
Remote Start Color     Car Color
Starter Out Put (yellow)     Starter (Yellow)
Accessoriers (Green)     Orange as Well as Brown
12 Volt Input (Red)     Red
12 Volt Input (Red)     Red
Selectable Out Put (white)     Green
Ignition Output (Blue)     Pink

Re Arm Out Put (-) (yellow)     Didn’t hook up
Trunk release (red white)     Haven’t hooked up, but will hook up to a11 on c2
Disarm Out Put     Light Green on b1-c3 on bcm
Anti Grind/Starter Kill Output     Didn’t hook up
Horn     Pin-B5 on C1 connector
Door Pin Input     Didn’t hook up
Park Light Out put     (haven’t hooked up yet)
Hood Pin     Didn’t hook up
System Ground     Just ground unit near other ground (its good)
Brake Light Switch     White wire on brake light switch
Tach Detection     Ran wire through firewall to the Ignition coil white wire number 5, not 1

As a Note I will be hooking up the door locks but, I don’t think that will stop it from cranking…

Does anyone have any suggestions?

a status output (negative) to activate your bypass?   the XK01 does EVERYTHING on these cars.

Did you get the proper response from the U1270TL the first time you started the car up after you put in the fuses.  That is when the unit will Tach learn and give the 2 beep / blink confirmation.  Not having the horn and parking lights connected make this much harder.  Is the antenna LEDs giving any type of blinking error code.

Make sure the hood pin wire isn't touching ground.

I hooked the parking light wire up to a test light so I can see the error codes and it blinked 7 times which is a tach signal issue....but I hooked up the wire correctly...

I also reset the 1270tl and reattempted the tach learn but, it never "acknowledged that it learned"

Seven blinks is a tach lock out.  The U1270 did not successfully tach learn.  On the 1270 it can take 40 seconds to learn, so you must let the engine idle for 40 seconds.  Do another reset, then start the car and let it idle for 40 seconds.  First verify that you have good connections at the Blue ignition wire and the yellow starter wire.  They must see voltages during the start up to go into tach learn mode.

Did you verify the Tach Signal with a Digital Multi Meter?  It is best to solder that connection due to its under hood location.

It is soldiered under the hood. How would I verify with a multimeter? Couldn't I just put an ohm meter on the wire I ran through the cab, and then the other probe on the white wire near the tach?

I might be confused on your wiring.. but just to be clear...

You have TWO ignitions, Pink and Green.

And TWO accessories, Orange and Brown

Correct?

And The blue status from the 555L to the blue status from the module, correct?

The 1270 likes to see around a 2v AC signal.  Connect the DMM black lead to chassis ground.  Set the DMM to 20v AC.  Connect the red lead to the Tach wire connection ( White wire at coil  ).  Should get a 2v AC reading that rises with RPMs.

Correct, I read online that the brown wire needed to have power or else it would not start also that it couldn't be done through the ignition.

you never stated that you used the status output in the beggining which activates your bypass

It was the status output for the bypass, once I hooked that up it started right up.....perfect...thank you very much..

One more question, do you know how to get the remote start out of programing mode?

It doesn't seem to want to leave it which is causing the car to not start...

its 3 long clicks..

EXITING SERVICE MODE
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position, DO NOT START!
2. Within 4 seconds, press and hold the Program Button (located on the
antenna) for 5 seconds or until the siren/ horn (optional) chirps two times.
NOTE: With the ignition key in the OFF position, the LEDs on the Antenna will
turn off and the remote starter functions will be re-enabled.
