minimal compustar dr 1000

Hello - Can anyone here link me to the documentation that comes with the compustar DR-1000? I understand it can be used stand alone so I wanted to study the connections and see what the possibility's are.

I can’t be sure without the docs but from what I’m finding It seems to really benefit from a compustar alarm module. If I understand correctly I could connect a few sensors (hood open, shock, Proximity?) to the compustar brain and then connect it to the DR-1000 via the rs232 connection and get notification of some of the individual sensors. I read that most of the brains can be triggered to arm/disarm via the factory key fob which would be ideal.

I don't really want an alarm siren, or even wiring it to honk my horn. I also don't really want to carry another key fob or do any sort of remote starting or flashing my running lights. Basically I want to know whats the minimum connections the brain would need to co operate with the DR-1000 and alert me one of its sensors has been set off, I don’t really want the car to reflect the fact its notifying me by running a siren or honking. Would I be better of just using the DR-1000 alone? I read it has an alarm input - if its really not possible to piece something like this together I could program my own micro to trigger the alarm input on the DR-1000 but I’d like to stick with a ready made solution if possible.

Well in case anyone ever digs this post up I thought I would update it myself since no on here is commenting.

I called Compustar directly as well as two resellers listed on their site. According to everyone I have spoken with its possible to do a minimal integration install as I described above but no one wants to recommend I buy less stuff

I was really hoping I would be able to get more technical info on the DR-1000 I understand it has a RS232 port and can speak to other compustar devices on this port. I also know it has multiple of its own harness connections to be used in standalone configuration but I'm really frustrated trying to decipher what it will do exactly and what it can interface with without buying one. I asked compustar’s customer service folks if they can just send me a PDF diagram but they are not authorized to do that..... I’m not sure I get the point, from what I have seen on ebay the compustar brains have the wiring diagrams printed right on them. So personally I’m not sure what the big deal is. Frustrating situation.

If I end up purchasing the DR-1000 I will get the info for it on this site for others.
