Few weeks ago I installed a remote start for a friends car. Went fairly well so I thought I would take a stab. For some stupid reason I opted for the cheapo ebay special Carvox King-Eagle. I have located the vehicles wiring reference and have checked the voltage of the wires to confirm that they are what they are (IE: the Starter Output wire puts out voltage while cranking, The Ignition wire has voltage while running/cranking, etc.)

That being said it wont start. Here is a list of wires that are hooked up (what I believe to be) correctly:

Starter Output, Accessory Output, Ignition Output, Main 12V power (x2), Tach input, Parking Light out, System Ground, Dome Light, Brake

Now I know there are some wires I SHOULD hook up, but this is just a test run. I have not hooked up the locks, siren, hood pin input, etc. Based on the wires I have hooked up I believe the system should start.

All that it does is turn the truck to the on position for a few seconds and then then back off. Even with the key in the ignition (to get around the transponder bypass) it will do the same thing.

I have checked the voltage coming from the "Starter Output" coming from the Remote Start and it does not give any voltage when attempting to start.

Also I believe that when I manually start the vehicle the remote should show that the vehicle is started. It does not.

I hope I provided enough information without making this too lengthy, and I would appreciate any help I could get!

Thanks,
Derek

The truck has accessory 1, and accessory 2. Did you make connections to both?

Im not familar with Carvox at all. Just want to warn you that Carvox is unreliable. I ripped a Carvox system out not too long ago to replace it with a Viper.

The 2 different wiring references I found only list 1 accessory for the truck. I also believe the kit only has 1 accessory. Any other ideas?

Did you install a security bypass? It won't start without that.

Nevermind, I see that you tried it with a key inserted. Sorry.

Just as a test I have the key in the ignition, which should work. The remote start doesn't care if you have the bypass or not, its the truck that cares. The remote start is still not giving 12 volts on the ignition wire when I attempt to remote start it.

And it is regular cab.

Heres some pics on the F150 I got from DirectWire. This might not be accurate, but I would use this as a guide.

Also...did you hook up the keysense wire? Its possible that you need to hook it up.

Should be a BLACK/ pink wire @ ignition harness.

Sorry....I guess the pics dont work.

Ok after hooking up the key sense it will start!!! BUT it starts longer than it needs to ( a little bit of starter grind ) and after it starts it will shut right back off after a few seconds of running. How does the remote start know when the vehicle is running?

It seem to me after the vehicle starts, the remote start doesn't recognize it running so it kills it and retries.

now its running isnt there a tach learn procedure to do with the vehicle by manually starting and learning it to the system to give it a reference point before remote starting?

I was wondering if there was something like that but there is nothing mentioning it in the manual that I could find.

i found a manual online to read through and i see what you mean, not completely descriptive about anything to do with tach learn. im guessing you would probably have to mess around with different sensors to see which it responds to best in seeing the engine running.

What different sensors? The only sensor is the tach wire which the manual states it defaulted to an oil sensor.
