Actually, surprisingly simple but very expensive.
Compustar do a stand-alone kit, works off the car's remote control, I've seen the install video (well what do you want, Stargate Universe and Madmen seasons have finished).
It took the guy about 25 minutes! All done via DATA and the factory fob, it uses signalling rather than power.
Compustar.

It's on their website,they list the Slicks (SLK) from 05-09 so be careful, though they list C class from 03-10 and it's the same vehicle electronically.

Thanks Howie, if the guy comes back by, I will look into the Compustar unit. Somebody told me that it would take a flux capacitor to make it work.

No I was saving it for a rookie, probably when we get to page 3 and they've forgotten to programme the by-pass, or better with an amplifier/split charging system. Let Peter (Oldspark) blind them with the technicalities then slip it in as the actress said to the bishop.
