Hello everyone,

recently purchased a 97 honda passport as a temp car for my wife and wanted to add this new Viper 5701 that I bought for my other car but ended up not using.

97 passport is the same as a Isuzu Rodeo.

Ive been researching for about a week and this will be my first install project. I am a mechanic but maybe only 5/10 on electrical items.

Im alittle overwhelmed since I cannot find a DIY on installing an alarm on a passport.

Can someone advise how to start this project? Right now I have everything laid out and was going to start Bench Soldering all the similar wires. I am uncertain how to start digging into the car and finding the write wires.

any tips or help would be appreciated!

While you might not find an install specific to your vehicle, there is plenty of other installs that should help guide you.

Vehicle Wiring section is available on this site,  Also  this site:  https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp

This is one I found for a Toyota Tundra  DIY with photos:  https://www.toyotatundraforum.com/electrical/4144-viper-dei-5701-remote-start-diy.html

Get a DMM test and verify for the wires you need. The install manual for the 5701 has a section near the beginning of how to find the wire you need.

It doesn't look to be too difficult of an install. Plan on a couple of days to do this. Don't rush and make a mistake.

A mechanic using solder? I'm impressed. most installs you see from dealerships and mechanic shops are t-tapped like there is no tomorrow.
