I bought a refurbished alarm/remote start and am looking to get it installed. Since i am not comfortable doing the work myself, I've called a few places and have gotten conflicting comments.
One guy is telling me i need two additional components other than the 5701 and the total install would cost me $450 (that's without the alarm that i already paid for), and I'll need an additional key.
Another one tells me it'll be $225 for the work and an additional $100 for the bypass ($325 total). No mention of a key needed
My question is this: Besides the 5701, what additional parts do i need to have remote start capability as well as alarm functionality? Are there any bypass units available for this car that don't require a key?
I've been trying to research the forums but there isn't any information that i can find to answer this specific question.
BTW if anyone knows a CT installer that is willing to do it for cheaper, I'd be appreciative of any contact information!
Thanks,
Andy
While there are bypass modules that don't require a "key in the box", these bypasses must be programmed to the car with a Dealer Scan Tool. The trip to the dealer costs money, if you can find one willing to do it. The car can be done with a spare key, a 556UW universal bypass box, and your Viper. Most of the wires are in the steering column or under the dash at the BIU.
