compustar cm6000 parking light reminder

I am installing a Compustar CM6000 in a 2001 Acura Integra and am a little confused with the C3 connecter, pin 2 ORANGE / black wire. The instructions specify this is a (-) input from the parking lights to function as a parking light reminder for the reservation mode. I'm not sure where to tie this wire into the parking light circuit. This car, like most, takes (+) 12V from a fused source, runs it through the parking lamp switch, and then routes it through another fuse, to the lamps, and then to chassis ground.

At what point in the circuit do I tie in the C3, pin 2? I am thinking somewhere after the switch but before the lamps. I just want to be sure though because I don't want to smoke the brain putting 12V to ground.

Does your car have a manual transmission?  If it's an automatic transmission, it's not used.  It is optional on cars with a manual transmission.  It prevents you from entering Reservation Mode when the Parking Lights are on.  If your car is a manual transmission and you wanted to have this feature, you would need to use a relay to change the cars' (+) Parking Light signal to (-) signal for this Compustar input.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, it's a manual transmission. What you said makes sense. A (-) input is truly a ground input. So I can set up a relay off of the parking light circuit to place a chassis ground on the C3, pin 2 wire whenever the parking lights are on, right?

That's it.  There are diagrams for that signal conversion in the Relays section.  Remember, it is optional, but a nice feature as I have drained the  battery once or twice without it.
