toyota tundra keyless while running

2005 Toyota Tundra double cab SR5


Looking for a way, or bypass, to allow me to use my keyless entry while the motor is running. I want to install a remote start add on unit like the code alarm ca 410, or avital 4103 (not 100% positive on model numbers). I know all about the cons of this vs. a full aftermarket alarm/remote start. I do not want to go with an aftermarket unit. Call me crazy but I really like the stream-line of having the factory system with keyfob. There has to be a way the keyless system can be re-enabled while the vehicle is running, via bypass module or the addition of a power source, etc. I've looked on here for a while and I've used the search function but I cannot find what I'm looking for.

An aftermarket remote start with keyless entry system would give you new remotes with much longer range that would also lock and unlock the doors just like your Factory remotes but also have an addition button for remote start.  You could leave your factory FOBs at home.  Only two extra wires to connect during the install.

Yes I know this. I do not want an aftermarket set up. I'm content with the range of my factory keyless. I know there is a way to do this, just have to figure out if its worth it. I will go to a aftermarket set up if it's going to take a lot of money and crazy amounts of work.
I had the code alarm ca 410 on my old Jeep Cherokee and I loved it.

never seen a toyota keyless work while the engine is running and unsure how to figure out a way to bypass it. best bet would be to get a schematic from a toyota dealer and try to figure out if there is a wire that can be interfaced with to keep the keyless working

There simply is no way to make the keyless work. This has been hashed up here a million times and no one has a solution. Some of the newer Toyotas can do this using an Idatalink bypass but your truck isn't covered. If you want the keyless to work you will need to go with an aftermarket keyless/remote start or use a one button style and carry 2 remotes...

AHHH CRAP! Oh well. Looks like aftermarket it is then.

You may be able to interrupt the gray/red ignition signal wire to the factory alarm module (TVIP ECU) behind the center dash with a relay activated by the GWR wire. The wire is in pin #13 of the T12 plug (should be 22 pins). I have not tried this but from the diagrams it should work. Since there are no sensors for this system, it should not trigger an alarm while the engine is running with with wire interrupted but I cannot be for sure unless it is tried.

if you get the avital it has lock outputs that work while the trucks running *obviously*, and you can hook it up so that once the truck is started you just press the rs button on the avital once more and it unlocks your truck.

I dug out the TVIP ECU and there is no change in current, ohms, or amperage with the key in any position. So that tells me the control of this is beyond the TVIP ECU. I'm thinking the body ECU maybe?   I did figure out the keyless remote will work to unlock (but not lock) with the key in the acc position. Not quite sure but I don't think it did anything in the "on" position.   

I know it'll be easier to just get an aftermarket set up nut now I really want to dig in more to see if I can figure this out. There is a way somehow.
