hey guys i am about to install a remote start in a 08 civic auto. I have install a bunch of remote starts on toyota's and subarus but never on hondas. I am going to install a viper 4203V which is just the remote start only. I was going to use that in conjunction with the xk05 bypass. and use the factory keyfob to lock/unlock the doors i was doing some reading last night saying that i also need something to bypass the factory alarm or door locks or the horn will start honking when i try to start the car. is this true? the xk05 wont take care of what i need to bypass for the immobilizer? thanks for your help
Jon

You might want to reconsider the 1 button remote start only decission.  Hondas disable the Factory Remotes while the engine is running which means after you remote start the Civic you will need to use the actual key to unlock the door.

Most remote starters have a Disarm output that it pulses at the beginning of the remote start process to turn off the factory alarm.

The XK05 will work well but must be flashed with the correct ( PKH4 ) firmware.

+1 what Kreg mentioned.

get a unit that has start and keyless.

on that note, there is a mod you can do to retain keyless, but its a pain to do.

that unit will also have an unlock/lock harness that comes with it and you can tie the unlock to the hondas lock wire in the car and once the vehicle is started with the remote start, you can press the button once again and unlock the doors. even the basic avitals have this feature.
