I would appreciate any info I can get on installing the 1401 Python on my wife's Explorer. What I will need, i.e. bypass module, etc? All I vare to do is remote start and do keyless entry. I installed a Viper years ago on a 95 Explorer. I soldered every thing and remembered it being a pain! Is there an easier way? Thanks for your help!
The search function is your friend. If you search this forum there is a ton of info for exploders. You will need a bypass. If you get one that doesn't require giving up a key then you will need 2 keys that start the truck to program it. It's really not that bad of an install.

Thanks... currently only have one key to truck. I have another key that hasn't been programed to the explorer. You ever programmed a key?
Yes, but to add a transponder key, you need two working keys.
The process goes like this. ( This info form FordF150.net )
If you want to add a key....
**You must have two original keys to perform this procedure. If you only have one key,
you WILL have to take it to the dealer to get it programmed**
1. Insert an existing (working) key into the ignition cylinder.
2. Turn the ignition cylinder ON (RUN) and back to OFF. Ignition should stay on for at least ONE SECOND.
3. Remove the existing key and, within TEN seconds, insert a second working key and turn it to ON (RUN) and
the back OFF. Ignition must be in ON for at least ONE second, but no more than TEN seconds. Remove the key.
4. Insert the new key before TWENTY seconds have elapsed and turn it to ON (RUN). Leave it the ON position
for at least ONE second and turn back to OFF.
5. The security light will light up for THREE seconds to indicate that the new key has been successfully
programmed.
6. To program additional keys, repeat steps 1 through 5

Soldering is fun!
There IS an alternative if you only have one good working computer chip key. We have done this a few times for those desperate (and too cheap of a customer) Take that key to the local hardware store and make one or two copies, with a standard blank, then go home , put the chip key in a 555U box and wire it to trigger whenever the ignition is turned on. Hence red wire to ignition blue wire to ground. You will be defeating the anti-theft capability so lock your doberman inside the car for the night!

I've only ever done that on close personal friends vehicles. i'd never do that on a customers car. but yes it does work. but if they happen to try and use a chipped key then the vehicle won't start because it will "see 2 keys"
