After installing a remote start in a 2000 Mercury Villager I noticed that the parking did not flash when pressing the lock/unlock buttons. So I turned on the parking lights by the switch to see if they still worked, which they did, but then accidentally bumped the unlock button on the remote. The parking lights turned off as a result and now will not turn back on at all. I checked all fuses and they are fine. Did I short something out?

What did you connect the remote starter Parking Light output to?  The (+) Pink wire in the Light Switch Harness or the (-) Grey/Red wire at the light switch?  Did you set the remote starter Parking Light output to the correct polarity?

I connected it to the Gray/Red(-).

I found the problem though, now I just don't know how to fix it.

I took apart the light switch and found that one of the little ribbons on the board got shorted out. Is there any way to reconnect them?

Depends on your soldering skill level.  If it is just a solder run on a small PCB ( printed circuit board ) you can use a short piece of wire to reconnect the ends of the run together.  Just lightly melt the end of the run with a 25 Watt soldering iron & add a little solder, then while its still molten add the wire and a touch more solder.  Allow to cool, then position the wire over the other end of the run and do the same thing with the soldering iron.    You can practice a few times with and old PC expansion card or whatever you can find.

What unit did you install? did you just leave the jumper for + lights or something?

Either way if it's just aribbon cable it shouldn't be TOO big ofa deal to solder/repair.
