Hello, I installed a remote starter on a 2002 Ford F-150 Supercrew 5.4L. I know it needs a transponder bypass because it starts with the key in the ignition but doesn't otherwise my only question is which will I need. I have heard that PKF1, PKF2, or PKF3 for Fords. Which one of these is there? I also heard there are different "types" A, B etc. can anyone explain what that is? Finally I saw these instructions on the forum for another Ford truck, would they also apply to mine?
"look at the immobilizer on the ignition switch and see which plug you have. Once you see the 4 pin plug.....you connect the bypass kit wires on to the original wires for the immoblilizer and leave the 4 pin plug still connect to the original immobilizer from the truck.
according to your truck it is Type A
pin 1 goes to black on the bypass kit
pin2 goes to red on the bypass kit
pin3 goes to blue on the bypass kit
pin4 goes to green on the bypass kit
and the brown from the bypass kit goes to the ground when running on the remote starter
check all connections and make sure there soldered good!"

Plenty of bypasses on the market and all work well for the most part. Another alternative is to by a key blank on Ebay for 9 bucks plus 5 shipping and put it in a keybox(again Ebay for 9 bucks shipped) and not worry about it. You can program the blank yourself and doesn't need to get cut...

Looks like your truck has the PATS1 type immobilizer. Only one key is needed to program the bypass. The PKF1 will work but might be hard to find as it was discontinued. There is another bypass, the DEI 1100F, also discontinued, that is easier to find for about $12 that works well on all 40 bit Fords. It is a data type bypass that is unaffected by cold weather & antenna positioning and no key is left hidden in the truck.
I believe the Types you mentioned are the different style immobilizer connectors found at the ignition switch. Your truck has Type A.
