Any one have any suggetions? installed a Viper 5900sst on a 2005 F450 diesel and remote start attempt to start and shuts down with in 2 seconds, then attempts to restart. Cranking time is set to 4 seconds, with a 15 sec timer. If i rotate key switch to ignition position while rs is cranking engine starts. Tach wire is connected to lt.grn w/ red at cluster.
Any ideas?
hi,
with the vehicle key turned to ignition while remote start is attempted, vehicle starts?...check your wiring at the ignition switch, something isn't powered up. the light GREEN/ red(s) i have at the instrument cluster are for the alternator and parking brake. tach is light GREEN / WHITE pigtail under dash behind fusebox.

sounds like you may have missed an ignition wire. what all did you hook up in your ignition harness?
Also often on these trucks it's best to use a 454t tach generator.

Hello,
I was wrong i did connect the tach to a lt grn/ wht but at the cluster. This is a work truck and is pretty vanilla, i did not find any five wire harness with white tape behind the parking brake. So i attempted to follow the lt. gren / wht in the harness to the cluster. I did not check continuity though to verify ( i assumed) it was the same. The remaining wires i connected as follows.
12v red- yellow at ign harness
12v red- yellow at ign harness
12v RED / wht- lt grn/ purple
ign pink- RED / lt. grn
2nd ign pink/ wht- RED / blk ( to feed aftermarket windows and doorlock controlled by alarm)
Acc orange- gray/ yellow
Tach - lt. grn/ wht at cluster
I am sure the ign wires are connected as when i go into programming mode the ign sense all works as well as when attempting to start with RS all instruments and acc are active. I am thinking i have the wrong tach sense. Would that cause this problem?
Also i installed the new Sony 770 double din navigation unit. It all seems to work fine with out the speed sense wire hooked up, where would i connect this wire and what function does it serve?
