Subject: int sl+ passlock bypass on a 1999 tahoe

Has anyone used the fortin int-sl+ on a 1999 (old body style) Chevy Tahoe? I installed a remote start/alarm combo but I can't get the remote start to work. I cannot get it to program. The LED light comes on but does not start flashing like the instructions say. I tried it first with the data link hook up and then i cut the connector off and wired it to +12v and ground and attached the ground out while running wire to the brain. Other than that the only wires hooked up is ignition and the purple wire in the obd2 connector. That is all that the instructions say to do.

Any help? Do i have the right bypass?

I am thinking maybe there was a typo in the application guide since 1999 was the last year of the obs Tahoe and I believe the new ones came out in 2000. Or should it be the same?

are you starting the vehicle towards the end of programming?
if not then do it.

Yes these are the steps I am doing like the instructions. Hold down program button. Insert connector 1 and connector 2 while still holding the button, turn the key to ign and wait for the light to flash, then release the button and start the truck.

The LED does not flash for me! it just stays solid the whole time. I've tried starting it and still nothing.

well when it tells you to turn key to ignition instead start the truck and wiat for the light to flash... otherwise grab a meter, 2 relays, and a few resistors and get to work!

Ok, the steps you were doing are for INT-SL, INT-SL+ differs a little bit. The steps are as follow :

  • Press & hold program button, plug in connector 1
  • Once the led turns on, release the program buton
  • Plug in connector 2
  • Press LOCK button on remote
  • Turn key to the ignition position
  • The led should flash ( some veh can take up to 60 secs before the led flashes )
  • Start the vehicle with the key
  • The led should turn off
  • Turn key OFF & you are done.

Just tried this and still no luck. The LED light just stays solid red. Is it possible that i have the wrong bypass for the obs tahoe?

Is it normal for the purple wire in the obd2 connector to show only 0.2 - 0.3V when running?
