I just installed a Python 1401, an XK01 with D2D wires on my 2006 silverado. I installed it according to instructions. The keyless entry works flawlessly, but not the remote start. When I try to start the remote start, the lights on my gauges come on(along with everything else), and I can hear the python makes some noises. But the truck itself never actually tries to crank. I have no idea:/ please help

did you run a tach wire?  if not it's easy as pie to get it at the rear of the gauge cluster, white wire.  remember to program it first then try to remote start.

I am not familiar with python, but does the remote start module flash the parking lights any when you attempt to remote start it? If it does, you can check your manual to see what the error is usually. Also, did you teach it the tach signal?

I do run the tach to the white, and did the tach learn, the radio and all functions of the truck do come on, and no the truck does not crank at all. All wires are soldiered. I took my time looking over everything time and time again.(

I'm going to try in the morning a solution I found scrolling thru the topics here. The wire diag from the remote starter says to wire ign 1 in/out, ign 2 in, ign 1 in, ign 2 out, etc etc... I only have 2 ign wires(pink, and white I believe) from my ign harness/t-harness. Well I found out here that my RED / black wire from remote starter previously unused needs to be wired up, along with me swapping a coulpe others around. I know im leaving this reply kinda shady, but I don't have the info infront of me. I got the info from a reply off page 2 or 3 in this section, the one about 04 Sierra remote start.... No where else were instructions stating the same.

I'll be sure to let you know how it goes, an if theres any other tips then let me know,

Thanks guys

Ok, so made some progress, but not there yet. Yesterday the lock and unlocks would work, but the remote start would not turn the truck over. As of tonight the truck will start to crank but not turn over, my lock are not working either. The remote start module will blink continuosly after i hit the lock button on the remote as if its working. I programmed to the XK01 to truck(atleast it blinked the led at me like it did in the past). I will review all my little notes ive taken so far, but figured id ask here and make it simple..

So to recap,
-Truck wont turn over after, but does start to crank.
-Door locks wont work with remote starter now

Heres how i have it wired

r/s Pink Ign 1    to       T-harness Ign 1
r/s Pink/white Ign 2    to       T-harness Ign 2
r/s Orange Acc      to        T-harness Access
r/s Violet Start    to     T-harness Start
r/s Red fused ign 1 in     to      T-harness 12v
r/s RED / Black fused acc    to      T-harness 12v

both Red and RED / black from r/s are ran to one single 12v in T-harness

r/s RED / White fused ign 2 in    to     T-harness 12v
r/s Red 12v constant (H1/2)      to     T- harness 12v

both RED / white and Red are ran to other 12v in T-harness

H1/5 Black ground to vehicle ground @ chassis
H1/11 Parking light to Brown in drivers kick panel
H2/17 Brake shutdown in to whit at brake pedal
H2/18 Neutral safety in to ground @chassis

I didnt hook up the tach tonight because in other post it doesnt mention using the tach when using the XK01 and D2D wires.

thanks for any help

Oh and the light on the instrument cluster come on while the truck starts to crank, but turn off at the same time the truck fails to start.

reflash it and program it again. this is honestly one of the easiest modules and truck there is to do.
ususally a 45 minute install.
regardless of the xk01 you should still get tach at the cluster.

I got my python 1401 to remote start, lock and unlock/kinda... On my 06 silverado.
With the lock and unlock it only work it seems like if the truck sits without the lock or unlock buttons used for alittle while. I can hit lock---it will lock, the unlock---and it will unlock, but if I hit the lock button again it won't work for alittle while:/. The remote start works great though. The python unit sounds like it's normally would when hitting the lock/unlock, but just won't till I give it some time.

I am using the xk01, with D2D wires. the purple from xk01 to obdII, but that's it. It's strange cause I know the function works but not like it should.

I also hooked the smartstart up and it acts the same when using the smart start. I'm not sure if theres a setting I'm missing??

if you are having problems in d2d you may want to try and go wire to wire and see if that fixes the issues

although i have no experience with that particular model...

does the time that you are unable to do the locks have anything to do with a domelight supervision issue?

operate the locks and keep trying them untill after the dome light goes out. maybe that can give you some direction.

just a thought.

Hey guys I got an idea I know you have solutions to, I have a 2006 silverado with python 1401 remote start/keyless entry. I also have the smart start module.

I have the option on the smart start to pop the trunk, well I have no trunk, so I was wanting to have this power the heated seats. I know I could have the rated seats come on with just the remote start up, but I wouldn't want them coming on in the summer:/

I know I need a relay, just wanting to check and see with y'all on how I should wire the relay up. I have 2 relays I can use, a 5pin and a 4 pin. I like the 5 pin I have because it has a plug with wires all ready to be connected, but the 4 pin does not. All and all I'll use which ever one I have to. I also got all the resistors(various sizes)

Is there a timed aux out put on the 1401? Or an aux you can programme a timed?
Find the wire that goes "hot (i.e. 12v+) when seat heater is turned on
OR measure the output at the switches, you will have to test and let us know because I've no idea whether the switch puts out a neg or a pos and whether it's a constant or a pulse.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Ok, ive got my python 1401 up and running in my 06 silverado. Am using the xk01.. and t-harness, and smart start. All works fine except a few issues.

I noticed yesterday that nothing would work(the remote starter, bypass, smart start). I looked at all 3 modules and none of the lights on the modules were even on. I checked the line fuses, checked my fuses on truck, unplugged the units and plugged back in, still no power. Well i had to go some where so i used my factory remote and key and both worked as normal. It was like my truck didnt even have anything added. Once i got to my destination the remote start/xk01/smart start were back on acting flawlessly again.

Tonight it did it to me again, so i left the modules where i could see them(the led lights), and i cranked the truck, started to backed out of my driveway, and after about 25 feet everthing powered up.

It seems like the 12v constant wires from my ignition harness are losing power. I dont think its fuses cause if one went out then it wont come back on till replaced. Im totally lost:/
