I am installing and Viper 5501 Remote Start into my 2007 Mazda 3. How can I disarm the oem alarm to remote start without unlocking the doors also. Do I need to hook up the disarm wire to remote start this car? The cars disarm wire also unlocks the doors. How do I get around this?

Does it matter that when the doors are locked and u put a key in the ignition the doors unlock automatically?

Where do I hook that to on my remote starter?

if the factory alarm goes off as you sit inside the vehicle, put a key in the ignition and it should turn off without unlocking.

on your unit you will need to look for the 2nd ign output wire to relay like so

85- constant 12v
86 - 2nd ignition (-) 250ma output from unit
87 - constant 12v
30 - keysense wire on car

good call, it only locks when a key goes in when the door is open.....

if i don't do what you said will it not allow it to remote start?

also do you know where the horn wire is? I don't want to set off the airbag

good write up....

i read thru and didn't find anywhere where you had to connect anything to the keysense....

that is correct, i did nothing with the keysense. I have a sport model, and while I do no think it has a factory "alarm" it does have the wires that correspond to factory arm and disarm, which is what I have the alarm's lock and unlock wires connected to. Are you positive that yours has a factory alarm? put your drivers window down, then lock the car with the factory remote, and then reach in and open your door manually. If your car starts freaking then it does have a factory alarm, if not then you should be fine using my write up.

i tried for a 10 minutes today to get my "alarm" to go off, couldn't.... i did what you mentioned also... hopefully i will be good to go....

I tested both the wires for arm/disarm and all checked out.... do all the doors open on unlock with your viper system or do you still press twice? also do the dome lights come on? I noticed you didn't have to hook that wire up either.... I can't figure that part out, will it be the same as the oem keyfob?

the car does have a factory disarm wire, but it also unlocks the doors on some models.

All the doors will open IF you use the factory disarm wire. if you choose to use the unlock wire, a 2.5 second pulse is needed to open up all doors.

no need for domelight supervision as that activates when you unlock.

yea i didnt think you would find that you had an "alarm". Yes all the doors open with one push on my viper, and yes the domelights come on automatically when I unlock using the viper, that is because I have the lock and unlock wires from the viper connected to the factory arm and disarm wires, which also control the domelight.

your write up was very helpful, the only problem with it is that i am installing a remote start only no security so i don't need any other wires on the passenger side of the vehicle so i thought it would be easier to just get it at the ignition harness

it will probably be more trouble than its worth, it isnt too difficult to snake a wire behind the cigarette lighter, just two little plastic push connectors to take out. Then voila, youre wire is right there at the PJB. But if you prefer to try to get at it near the ignition harness, good luck. I am sure you can eventually find it but it might not be easy.

Thanks for the tips, they are very much appreciated!!!

I found it though in the ignition harness black wire that goes to the yellow plug!!

Thanks again, I hope now that I have found all the connections that I need to make!!

I will be installing it today when they UPS driver gets here and report back with any problems I encounter....

well i just wanted to check back.....

UPS got here at 5:00 with my package after going through all the boxes and un-packaging it I began to install....

Well a few hours later and I have it all hooked up and IT WORKS!!! everything seems to work, had a little trouble programing the PKFM, had to do it twice, but it works now, the first crank after i programmed it the security light flashed but on the second attempt it cranked right up

Tomorrow I will be putting all the panels back on and connecting the solenoid to open the trunk... didn't have it from the factory so this will be nice!!

Just want to say thanks again for all the input and help!!!!

nice, always good when stuff goes good on the first try. Is your car a sedan? I hope so because i couldnt get my hatch popper to work after multiple attempts.

aftermarkey trunk solenoids are a PITA to fit properly. The best/fastest way is to go to a local junk and find the trunk releasemodule from a mazda of same model/make and just retrofit it inplace.

no i wasnt trying to install an aftermarket popper, my car is a hatchback and the factory wire that is supposed to activate the hatch popper is what i could not get to work.

i have a sedan and i added and after-market trunk popper, i had no idea that it was going to be so big, but i did manage to get it mounted and wired correctly only problem is i had to disconnect the cable to the lever for manual operation so now i can't pull the lever by the drivers foot to open it

one final question and it goes right along with the the trunk solenoid. Is there anyway to make the pulse for the solenoid shorter on the viper 5501? seems like it could be 1/4 amount of time
