About to install a Viper 5101 in a 2001 Civic. Just wondering what would be the best location to mount the Control Center. Also should it be mounted vertical or horizontal?

I saw a post where the person mounted the Control Center horizontally in the upper corner, driver side and someone responded stating it was the wrong direction. Was thinking of mounting behind the rear view mirror, in the center, horizontal.

you mean the antenna?

antenna can go anywhere on the glass as long as its not obstructing your view. i find mounting antennas horizontal or vertical is the same (if they are small enought to do so)

for example you cant mount a compustar antenna vertically since its pretty much a foot long antenna.

I've even mounted one of the previous generation behind the front grill on a Mercedes!
The simple answer is anywhere it works and it isn't in your line of sight. Best place would be high up on the passenger side windscreen.

Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
