i am in need of help...i have a ford ranger with an avital remote start and im trying to install the xk05...i believe i have all the wires correct and when i got it to the programming part the LED never shuts off it stays on the whole time so i would assume the module is not learning the keys or something... i went through the programming process and remote started it afterwards and it worked fine but then i tried it out again and does not work...i wired up the status wire to the avital status output...i even switched around  the tx and rx wires and still the LED stays on....somebody please help me

what firmware is on this module it should be 5.PKTI v1.02

if it is not and it the one that come with the xk05 then it will have to be flashed to the right firmware

im not too sure but i would assume it would be that firmware tho cuz i just bought the module not too long ago and i wired everything accordingly to the chart...at the bottom it says troubleshooting: if the led stays on reverse the tx and rx wires also if the module fails to program then re-flash it but i dont know how to re-flash and dont understand why i would need to if it hasnt been programed....weird...its like i get to the part in the programming process where it tells me to remote start the car and the led will turn off once the module is programmed but it stays lit...what do you think i should do?....i really do appreciate your quick reply and help tho...

here are my wires
black to ground
red to 12v
rx which is the voilet to the keysense
tx which is the orange to the keysense
brown to the remote starter status output <-- i have read that somebody people connect this wire to ground but i read my avital manual and it has on it exactly a status output so i wired it to that

the instructions did they come with the module or did you download them.

were you bought it did they say they were going to flash the right firmware for you and send you the instructions with it

just to make sure you have the right wires in you truck they are the WHITE/ lt. green (TX)pin 4, gray/orange (RX)pin 3

you should not have to hook up the key sense wire in a ford.

the module comes with factory with pkt2 firmware. you need a xkloader to flash the modules if you need it flash and you can not find any one local to do it for you. if you pay for the mail both ways i will do it for you (if it comes down to that)

i have used this many times and have never had a problem with them

it didnt come with instructions but it came with a paper saying go to xpresskit.com to download your manual or something like that i went there and i pulled up the xk05 firmware pkti...but yes it does has pkti on the back of the module...on the manual it shows a photo of where to connect the tx and rx which is the orange and voilet wire from the module...i found a pin plug that fits the description and hooked it up to it and i assumed it was a keysense plug cuz it runs to the immobilizer and the wires from that we're green and red...but the wires that you gave me...are those the wires from the pin plug where you connect like a obd scanner to?...should i connect the tx and rx wires to that?...

no they should becoming from the immobilizer you can usually find them near the bottom of the steering column or near the immobilizer plug by the ignition switch(tumbler)

the connector if the color don't make it pin 4 and pin 3 there should be 4 wire in the plug total

my instuction also list the brown wire(+) at switch.

it also lists WHITE/ black(-) at switch too.

direct wire lists the brown wire at sjb smart junction box in passenger kick panel fuse box. brown plug, pin 8

they also list the wht/blk(-) at switch

i would use the negative if you can
