Hi All,
I'm familiar with wiring the older DEI remote starts. I have a new Viper 5301 and a little confused on the high current wiring and integrated relay.

It's going in a 2005 Dodge Ram Diesel. It has the black key so no bypass should be needed. I've got the other wiring all set, but didn't want to tackle the high current wiring without fully understanding it. Can someone either explain the integrated relay generally or the specific wiring for the 05 Ram?

Thanks,
Travis

Are you talking about the ignition wires. If so you have

red-constant 12v

purple-starter

pink-ignition

pink/white-ignition/accessory 2

pink/black-ignition 87a

orange-accessory.

I am talking about that harness. I have the description of the wire colors and what they stand for.....I guess I'm confused to the following wires, and where they go on my 05 ram.

pink-ignition:(I assume...This goes to ignition 1 {pink/white on ram})

pink/white-ignition/accessory 2: (I assume...this goes to IGN 2{pnk/lt. green})

pink/black-ignition 87a:   (no idea on this)

Thanks,
Travis

pink/black your not goign to hook up unless it says you need to isolate the ignition wire which i don't think you do. The other wires you have correct.

You may need to wire a relay to get the second accessory to work. I would get it all together and see if it works. If you notice like heater controls not working then I would hook up the second accessory too.

The relay would be to change polarity on the second acc (if needed)?

Also, I don't need to cut the starter wire, unless it calls for isolation, correct? (I should know this, but its been too long)

Thanks for all your help.

relay is added to create a second acc circuit. you should power up all ign and acc wires.

the start wire can be cut if you want a starter kill/anti grind.

BTW, all keys from about 04-on are Black... it will likely have a chip in it regardless of color.....

My key does not have a chip...confirmed by using a spare key that is just a wal-mart blank. Truck starts and runs fine with this key.

Gotcha on the relay (one is built in for 2nd and 3rd acc.) And gotcha on the starter wire.

Thanks,
Travis
