I installed an Avital 4103 in my 2004 Pontiac Vibe. Everything is working, except the starter will not disengage. When using virtual tach it turns off after about ten seconds, when using voltage sense it grinds the starter, when engine checking is off it grinds the starter, and when hooked up to the tach wire the starter never stops spinning. I've double checked all of the connections and learned the tach multiple times. What should I do next?

Reprogramme to and install the proper tach wire, your R/S hasn't sensed tach.

Erase your virtual tach by:
1. Turning the ignition switch to ON position
2.press valet button 5 times and HOLD on the fifth time.
3. While holding the valet switch press the lock on the aftermarket remote.

Then verify your have the PURPLE wire only connected to the starter wire.

Also, is your ground in the driver kick area, not to just a metal panel running across the driver side?

So did you ACTUALLY HOOK UP TACH?

^ He said the starter never stops spinning when he hooks up tach. Which might not be the actual tach wire.

Rmm7bb, how did you test the tach wire? I don't know what vehicle this is but isn't it a Toyota? If so the tach should be pin 9 on the OBD ll, a.k.a. data connector, lower dash driver's side.
