Help. I've got everything else good. except I blew the alarm fuse due to the Blue/Red (A/C=Heater) wire resting on Gnd! It only registers 12Vdc when ignition is on and the fan is turned in the ON position. This is usually easy one. Looking for 12Vdc thick wire that turns on in accessories position. Did a 2002 Solara before, but don't understand why I'm getting different output from that usual Blue/Red Wire. This is on the right side of the steering column is on the same plug as the WHITE/ red Constant 12Vdc wire. -Val

What size was the fuse you blew? Pretty much all ignition/accessory/starter wires rest at ground; that is normal.
Also, the blue/red wire only serves to operate the radio, power mirrors, and other non-essential features...it is not necessary for remote start at all. I'd rather not have the radio on during remote start anyway.
As long as you're powering up the two main ignition wires... the BLACK/ red and the BLACK / YELLOW, the climate controls will work.

thanks Chris, I was hoping you'd answer before I came back to work on Dad's car. The fuse blown was the alarms 30Amp! I did not see another Ignition wire in there. I only put the 12V ignition to the BLACK/ red, I did not see a big BLACK / YELLOW for 2nd ignition. The only BLACK / YELLOW that was there was a thinner blk/ylw for 2nd starter-right by the side of the blk/wi 1st starter wire. Also this engine doesn't have a cable for throttle right? I didn't see one. I saw some 6 wire plug up above by the throttle pedal. any of those wires can be used for the rpm sensing? The BLACK/ orange wire that you mentioned did not work on this 4cyl LE model. Thanks Chris, you Rock!

The BLACK / YELLOW second ignition is actually a small wire....it has exactly the same size and appearance as the second starter wire you found.
Also, I don't believe the second ignition wire is available in those plugs to the right of the column---you must open up the main ignition harness to get it, which is easy. Look up and you'll see that it is held up high by one large zip tie.....cut the tie and the harness will come down with plenty of slack. You can replace the tie later if you want to, but I've never had to.
The ORANGE / black tach wire should work for any model of Camry. At the gray plug to the right of the column, there are TWO BLACK/ oranges......you want the one that's closer to the middle of the plug. Also, if it's a 4-cylinder LE, I'm pretty sure the BLACK/ orange is present at the diagnostic plug that's under the dash.

You wouldn't believe what was the cause of my problems! A weak battery in my DVM. I couldn't get an accurate reading from the tack wire in the diag plug. I changed it and it was reading much better. Anyways the alarm programmed to learn the tach signal. This LE did not seem to need transponder. In the owner's manual (car), it specified the key had the transponder units in there. Oh well, it works. I also just put a diode in the wi/blu trunk pop wire so that the signal only goes towards the trunk motor. I did not have to 5 wire it. It worked several times, I tested it. Did you find the same? Again, thanks for the help. It's been years since I did an alarm. I was a little rusty here....

DAmn Volt Meter! it was the cause of me not being able to read tach correctly. I replaced the battery and it was much better. it was in the diag plug, like you said. Wheeee.... the tach learn mode confirmed on the alarm. I also found that I only had to put a diode for the trunk pop wire. So the signal would only go to the motor and not to the relay. It works and I tested it several times. Did not have to 5 wire the circuit. Hey thanks again. Its been years since I did an alarm. I felt really rusty but got Dad's camry done.

Yeah, the server is acting weird lately.
And yes, a diode inline on the trunk release should work just fine.
