07 dakota remote start 15 sec delay?

Remote Start Module: Avital 4003L
Bypass module: DEI PKUMUX

Okay this truck is the MUX version so it has the "second starter" wiring. I believe I had everything wired up, and at first I had an Omega IB-UCH2X module but for some reason I couldn't get the truck to program to it...light just kept flashing and wasn't recognizing the module. I bought the module on Ebay though the person claimed it was never used (wiring was all still tied up in package) but I assumed it was just a bad module. After I tried programming the module and tried the remote start it would start then shutdown almost immediately.

So I bought the PKUMUX module instead and it wasn't programming either. I thought my wiring was wrong/backwards (instructions are pretty weak on this) and I tried different stuff and it was doing the same thing the Omega module was (dash light would keep flashing and never heard the chime that it said I should). Then I decided to try it one time even though I didn't think it took and it worked...though it had quite a delay (15-30 seconds) after activating the remote start to the time it actually cranks it. As soon as it is activated, the ignition turns on and dash lights etc. all come up, but the truck doesn't start for about 15-30 seconds. Weird??

Any ideas? Do you think I messed up the computer somehow or maybe the whole security system is corrupted now since I was messing with the wiring? I forget now but I think I tried the key without the chip and it would start up and shut down as you would expect, so it seems the security is intact. I guess the module programmed even though it never did chime during the program process??

Another conundrum: the wiring diagram said to activate parking lights you have to wire negative signal through a relay and through 1130 ohms...at first I just used a 1000 ohm resistor but it activated the headlights instead of the parking lights, so I wired up exactly 1130 ohms (1k+100+15+15) to the trigger wire after a relay and it still turns on the headlights?? I made sure the auto headlights wasn't turned on so I know its not that. Any ideas on this one??

I have a suspicion that the remote start, when activated, for some reason fails the first start attempt and maybe the second attempt too which is why it has such a long delay before it actually starts....so if that is the case the million dollar question is why does it fail the first and/or second start attempt??

Check to see if your unit has diesel mode.  If so, make sure it is not in that mode.

or maybe your remote start has a diesel setting (which will power up ign and wait for a preprogrammed amount of time before cranking to heat the glow plugs ) which could be your issues too

Oh man I did't think about that. I did have a heck of a time getting it to program for three pulses for the activation, so I may have changed some programming settings I didn't mean to when doing that. I will check that and report back!
