XK532 bypass module w/CHDL7 firmware.
I purchased as a kit and installed it myself. Everything worked for 2yrs. Then, my Code Alarm SRT-9000 module needed to be replaced. I did a simple swap and THOUGHT I checked everything out as far as starting etc..
After 1 month of just sitting in the driveway not going anywhere, the battery died(had a bad batcap)
My alarm wasn't starting and I got a shutdown on my 2way pager, I Figured I had to re-program the tach sense so I did...
It then started but shuts down after 15-30seconds and then restarts and then shuts down..etc
Can these modules lose their RF programming? The battery was completely dead for atleast a few days.
If I leave a coded key in the ignition, it starts and stays running. i've checked all the wiring as well as the transponder ring placement.
ALL problems point to the bypass module, but I tried reprogramming it but with a spare key...I'll have to try again with 2 factory programmed keys once I go digging under the bumper for the OEM spare....
Question:
Can these modules loose their programming? If so, can I reprogram the RF to the SAME vehicle?
Should I just get a new bypass?

this bypass uses a transponder chip in the module and will not loose it programing
are you using it d2d or wire to wire
i would check to make sure all harness are plugged in to the module tight if loose it might not make the proper connection.
if wire to wire check your ground while running wire. or try to ground this manual and try the remote starter

Odd that it stays running with a key in the ignition (assuming it is in the off position that is). 15 seconds is a long time to stay running if the transponder portion of the bypass is malfunctioning. I think your problem might lie elsewhere, make sure the ground to the module is still solid, I would also make sure the gwr is maintaining a good ground the whole time the RS is running as well.
I would spend some time trying to troubleshoot it, but with the introduction of the newer bypasses it might behoove you to replace it. The new ones are much more reliable, they no longer rely on the inductive loop..they tie right into the data line. Take a look at the one I use the (ADS-AL CA),

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
That's true about the 15 seconds. i would normal associate that with a bad tach signal or not learned tach.
also if you are using d2d make sure the Remote starter set for DBI communications for the bypass module. i think code alarm you can set for ads and Fortin too not sure though.
Running D2D. As for the "communications part", it was all set up from autoalarmpro where i bought it from. It was a VSS kit.
Initially nothing would happen when i first noticed the problem. truck wouldn't start and my 2way would tell me auto-shutdown.
I thought it may have lost the tach sense or something so I re-programmed it and does start -up using the remote.
If I put the key in the ign like i said, this just puts the chip closer to the oem ring so rather than the loop the bypass module uses, the key is replacing that. It does the same if i hold it close. Once I pull the key out or away from the cylinder, it'll take up to 20sec or so for the truck to shut off.
I don't think there's a tach issue or it wouldn't run at all. I checked all the connectors and even unplugged and plugged them back in. I verified no kinks in the the sensor ring wires as well but it seems like that is where the problem is??
I'll go out and probe a few wires and see what comes up, but there's a foot of snow on the ground today so maybe tomorow I'll untie eveything and go in closer. i could have pinched or knocked a wire loose when I ziptied everything up when i replaced the module???
