I am installing a keyless on a 02 tacoma and cannot get the unlock to operate correctly. I used the RED / yellow in the kick panel and it only works when the door is open. what can I do to fix this?

Is this an Extended cab or 4 door? The power lock wire-grey, power unlock-purple,lock motor,blue/white,unlock motor,blue.

try looking for:
lock-blk/blu -
unlock-RED / yellow -

child safety wire RED / blu -

POWER UNLOCK            purple          |-  |               white plug near fusebox

The wire will test only by operating the key in the passenger door lock cylinder, not the rocker switch on the door.
