Hey guys,

Picked up the prostart 3471 (2 way) remote starter for my wife over the holidays, started installing it this weekend in her 2005 Equinox LT, and have been taking my time, reading, searching forums etc.

I am a bit confused on a couple of wires. For my brakeswitch, the prostart suggest me finding a light blue wire in the drivers kick panel, which I can clearly see right at the actual 'brake switch', can I use that light blue wire instead of looking in the kick panel mess of wires for that?

Secondly, the brown wire that comes out of the PLJX which can't be used until programming of the pljx is complete.. Where do I put that wire? to ground on the remote starter unit?

I want to get the vehicle started with the most basic options, then I will move on to lighting and door locks :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tony

You can get the brake wire at the switch, but if you are going to install the other convenience options then the kick panel would make for neater install. You are going to probably have to get there anyway. Make sure you test with DMM to verify you are on the correct side of the switch/wire.is the brown wire the GWR -?

The RIGHT way is the ONLY way.

yes the brown wire is ground while running on the pljx

that wire (after programing) will be attached to the status wire or Ground while running on the remote starter

Thanks for the help, I seem to have the wires connected properly now, only problem is that when I have the hood down, hood trigger not grounded, it goes to start, I can hear the engine preparing, but won't actually turn over. I am kinda stumped here, I have 3 jumpers on my unit and have already did an auto tach setting programming. I just don't know why it won't crank? Oh, the 3 jumpers are as follows:

Accesories, ignition, and crank. Because I don't have a starter wire, i used the WHITE/ violet where I should have.

you have the starter wire of the remote starter still attached to the pljx

> is the jumper in the right position?

Yes, its in accessory now, I check the brown wire of the PLJX and the
voltage drops to 0 when attemping to crank and stays at 12v any other
time

> did you connect the start wire output of the remote starter to the start input of the the pljx?

yes, the violet wire from the PLJX is hooked up up to the starter wire
from the remote

> did you try to hook up the keysense wire of the bypass to keysense wire?

and, yes i have the keysense wire from the bypass hooked up to the
green wire at the ignition, should i be using the one at the BCM?

all the lights turn on like it wants to start, then does nothing..

if you start the vehicle by key will the remote starter take over.

after starting it with the key, push the start button of the remote starter.

then remove the key and make sure it does not shut off or turn on check engine.

if all good try to reprogram the bypass because thats your problem then

if it doe not take over then you have a problem with the remote starter

Yes, i started manually and removed the key, works good.. so atleast its eliminated to the bypass.

I see a warning on the PLJX install sheet.. says "keysense wire connection, connect only if wire goes to ground (neg) when the doors are closed and the key in ign).. I'm not sure how to check that with a meter..

with door open and key out of ignition

place red probe of DMM on wire and black probe on ground. test should read voltage.

close door take reading again should show voltage

place key in should show 0

open door place key in should show voltage

or just cut the wire and try to start it

see if it makes a differnce

Well.. I tried a combination of things here. and success!! I cut the keysense wire, and moved the jumper over to 'charger' .. starts up great..

Can't thank you enough for your patience!!

Hi I am having the same problem with the prostart rs.
Car will cycle to start but no turn over.
If I start and let rs start take over works fine.
Can you let me know what you did to get yours to work,
Thanks
