I want to install a Viper 5901 in my 02 Mustang. I know I need to diode isolate the door trigger wires, but im kinda confused as to go about it.

Do I have to cut the wires from the GEM or can I leave the two wires connected, wire in the diode on each wire, then connect both to the alarm?

There have been a few links to the #1076 pdf that explain what to do, but you have to login to see it.

Any help will be appreciated.

I don't have the tech doc. but this might help.

Dome Light:Ford's G.E.M. Will Drop A Low Signal Across The Dome Light And In Most Cases Cause A False Trigger. To Eliminate This Cut the Door Pin Trigger Wires At The G.E.M. And Insert A One-Amp Diode With Band Side Facing Doors.Make Your Isolated Connection On The Door Pin Side. The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) Is Behind The Dash Above The Brake Pedal.

The wires should be yel/blk and gr/red and they test negative. I believe you  could also use the blk/white + at the keyless module above the drivers kick.

Look in the downloads section on this site, if you can't find it, PM me with your email address.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Thanks, I found it there.

One more question. Do I need to isolate the trunk trigger wire or can I leave that one be?

If it's an INPUT to the GEM yes, I believe that's the case, the only exceptions to my knowledge being VW Golf/Rabbit/Jetta Fiat Punto where the dome feed is an output.

I'm pretty sure on the Mustang you need to diode the trunk wire too....
