Have a 2005 F350 pickup. It has the keyless entry on the door. As designed by Ford, it doesn't work when the truck is running. Due to the fact that this is a diesel, it lneeds to warm it's self up in the winter and I'd like to be able to lock it up while it warms up. When we're traveling and stop at a rest area and don't want to shut it off I'd like to just lock it and leave it running. I know that someone can just break in and go but If this can be done over an investment of a remote starter and a turbo timer I'll take the chance for now. is there any way to modify it or it's system to work when the truck is running?? In search the forums there is plenty of talk about the keypad but nothing as far as i can find about doing this.
Thanks for the help
Fred

Are you sure that it's a factory system? An 05 that doesn't work with the truck running? That's odd, I can not recall any F series that shuts the remotes/keypad off when running.
Just buy an aftermarket keyless system and pop it in there. Cheap and a lot less effort than trying to hack the system.

It's factory, has the factory keyless entry system. Seems like I may have a bad keypad. Not ready to invest in another keyless system just yet.

I'm assuming that these are a remote starter. How hard are they to install in a diesel powered truck.

yes that is a Remote starter with key-less outputs at worst you will need relays for the doorlocks but you can get the 451m on ebay for 7 dollars but you might not need that.
first time install can be a little overwhelming but with the add of this site most people can handle it.
if you feel comfortable with a soldering iron, Digital Multi meter and testing vehicle wiring for identification.
it will not be that bad. this site is a good place to start and have a lost of information on how to do it.
and a lot of people willing to help
