Subject: intellistart pulsed out

I have a 91 fiesta rst with avantguard 4 fitted. I have wired the pulsed out from the intellistart to the front heated screen but it's not turning the screen on after it starts. The normally needs to be running to activate the screen and it is defiantly a pulsed trigger, I have sat in the car after remote started and manually pulse ground the wire needed and the screen comes on. I have ales used cliffnet to trigger it an it works fine. Is there a setting that adjusts the point this is activated or adjusts the length of time it's activated.
Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the pulse out from your unit to see if it's going to ground, also you might need a relay to give it more current.
What are you using for the pulsed out? One of the main unit's aux wires?

The pulsed out it one of the three -outputs from the intellistart unit. I have checked for ground when activated and the meter starts to count the voltage but stops too quickly before it reaches 12v. There must be enough current to trigger it because I can activate the output with cliffnet. In cliffnet it's in starter option and then there is a button to activate output 2.

Do you have a 12volt test light? A much better way to measure this.
Your meter if you use that needs to be a DMM with a peak button otherwise it won't read fast enough. It take it red probe to a constant 12 volts and black probe to the wire?
Think you should try a relay, wired as follows:-
Aux output to 85.
Constant 12V+ via 2amp fuse to 86.
Good solid ground to 87.
Output to HRW wire from 30.
Diode across 85 and 86, 1N4004, diode band towards 86.
Worth a try.
Make sure that the aux you used works all the time, obviously when the alarm is on. The one designated as trunk release doesn't work when the alarm is on. You can programme them that way.
Installer programming, Aux interlock, make sure the interlock is OFF for all bar whatever you're using for hatch release if you've utilised that. You can do it through the Wiz.

Will try a relay at weekend. But I am not using an aux channel from the main unit. I am using the pulsed out from the starter module.

If you're talking about a WHITE/ violet, forget it it's function is to disarm a factory alarm. It puts a pulse out before anything is actually switched on so it won't do your HRW.
Use one of the main aux outputs, grey/red, grey/blue and grey/purple from the main unit via a button on your R/control.

Can't use an aux channel. They are all in use. Boot, headlights and turbo timer.

Well then you've had it except you could use the boot aux with a latching relay from the lock unlock wires to give it boot release whilst disarmed and HRW activation whilst armed.
Dead easy.

Omron relay part no 808 416 from RS components about £6.
Since when did that vehicle have a turbo?
