Hello all,

After researching I believe that I can use the Fortin CAN-SL2 unit to handle my transponder bypass and door locks on my 08 Silverado (New Body Style).

Does anyone have expierience with the CAN-SL2 and will it require any additional parts (resitors, relays) to get the bypass to work?

Thanks!

According to the manual, you should not need anything other than the CAN-SL2. Do you have it already? Fortin is listing it as discontinued. There are other options out there,

I don't have it but was looking at buying it on eBay. I really don't want to buy an expensive idatalink module. If you have other suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Be very careful when buying on eBay. There are quite a few sellers on there that are not authorized to sell what they are, so make sure whoever you buy anything from will stand behind it if you buy from them. DLPK from DEI will do it too..and about the same price as the CAN-SL2 on ebay. What are you installing? If you are just doing an add on remote starter, the Fortin PATS-GM2 has worked well for me in those trucks. If you are doing a full security system, the combo module is the better way to go.

Thanks again. I am installing a remote start and security system (Code Alarm 6551) so I'll need a combo unit bypass. It appears that the Fortin CAN-SL2 is the same as the DEI DLPK. (Instructions/hookups are identical)

It appears that both units will handle the bypass without the resistors or relay so that is great. That was my main concern. Thanks for your advice.

you wll have negATive door lock wires at the bcm and at the left side of the dash under removable cover, driver door triger will be there also, pass door trigger will be on pass side of dash and at bcm also and all you need for bypass is a blank circle plus key and a universal box to place it in, truck is very simple
