I have an 05 GMC Sierra 1500 and a Viper 5701 car alarm / remote start system. I also purchased an Xpresskit XK09 module with DLPKGM firmware. After reading through the forums this is how I plan on wiring my system:

Main Harness H1 (12 pin):
Red -12V constant
Brown - Siren
Black - Ground
White – Parking light output (gray and black wire)

H3 10-pin
Pink - Ignition 1 pink wire
RED / White – 12V Constant
Orange - Hooked to Accessory 1 orange
Violet - Car Side of starter wire Yellow
Green – Ignition side of starter wire Yellow
Red - 12V Constant
Pink/white - Ignition2 White wire
RED / black - 12v Constant

RS (5 pin):
BLACK/ White - Grounded
Violet/White – ??? (tach???)
Brown - White wire above brake pedal
Grey - Hood Pin

XK09
Green wire - OBD2
D2D

I plan on using the D2D option of my XK09.
Questions:

Do I only need to hook up the one Green wire (in addition to D2D) on the XK09? What about the RS violet/white tach wire on the viper 5701? Does the XK09 take care of this?

Also, do I need to change the flash park polarity to negative for this system? This is the white H1 wire connecting to the gray/black wire on the truck.

Last. I plan on doing the following:
-program the XK09
-learn tach
-change D2D jumpers to external
-Flash Polarity ???
-Set transmission mode to Automatic

Missing anything?

Thanks in advance for the help. You guys rock!

You will need to set the parking light output to (-). You can hook up a tach or you can use virtual tach. I wouldnt trust the tach output of any module. It works about 50% of the time. Other than that you are right on track.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick response. I will try the virtual tach first to see how it works otherwise I will wire it directly. Is this correct?

-violet/white wire to white instrument cluster wire
-set viper 5701 tach from virtual to voltage mode

Anything else? Any other wires for direct tach wiring?

The 5701 has 3 engine checking modes - tach, virtualtach, and voltage. Voltage should be a last resort. If you use virtual tach there is no wire used. the PURPLE / white from the 5701 can be cut off and capped.

okay, I have the alarm / remote start system installed. I programmed the XK09 and it is communicating via D2D (I think). When I use the factory key fob the DEI siren chirps once when locked and twice when unlocked. The only problem is that I cannot get the viper key fobs to work (neither the 1 way or two way). I tried learning both key fobs but still nothing. I also tried removing all key fobs and still nothing. These are the steps I took:

open a door
turn the key to the on position
push and release the valet button once
push the valet button once more and hold
the siren chirps once
push the lock button the key fob (the siren never chirps)

The only thing I don't have connected is the hood pin but I don't think that should make a difference at this point. The truck starts and runs normally with the key.

Do you think the issue could be because I don't have the green or violet wire on the H1 harness installed? Shouldn't the Xk09 take care of this?

Thanks for the help.

update:

When in programming mode there are several ways to exit the menu.
1. turn the key off
2. wait 30 seconds and it times out
3. close the door (because the door must be open to program)

I tried closing the door when in programming mode and the siren chirped several times to indicate the menu was exited. So it appears that the system is talking to the XK09 module.

I forgot to mention that this is a factory refurbished model. Any suggestions?

Update:
In order to program the remotes I had to do the following:

Press and hold "f" until LED lights solid (approximately 10 seconds), then press and hold remote starter button(circle w/arrow) until LED blinks three times and the amber transmit LED lights up.
Now you have to enter the remote control learn routine: Turn ignition on, within ten seconds press and release control button on antenna then, press and hold control button while pressing the lock button on remote. System will respond (horn/chirp/flashing parking lights) when holding control button and when pressing lock button on remote.

Once the remotes were programmed everything else fell into place.

How can I get both passenger and driver door locks to unlock at the same time with a single press of the unlock button?

Thanks for the help. Everything works great!

To get both doors to unlock with one press of the Vipers' Unlock button you must change the programming of the Viper to "Double Unlock Pulse".  It is Menu 1, Menu Item 6, to Option 2.  It will still unlock the Drivers door first and then a split second later the Passanger door will unlock, all with just one press of the Vipers Unlock button.

The other way is to go to W2W mode between the Viper and the XK09 bypass module instead of D2D.  That will get both doors to unlock at the exact same time with one press of the unlock button with no Viper programming change.

Thanks for the advice. I tried programming the system as option 2 but that didn't work. I also tried option 4 and that didn't work either. Basically I want to hit lock and have both doors lock and the alarm set to active, as well as pressing unlock once and having both doors unlock (option 4). When I set it to option two or option four the key fob beeps twice at me but still only the one action from the doors. Maybe it is sending the pulses too close together? Any more suggestions?

This forum has been FANTASTIC! I have never intalled an alarm system before and because of all the help topics posted on this forum I wired it up correctly first try. Thank you very much everyone.

Hate to say it but changing from D2D to W2W might be the sure way to achieve your goal.  In the XK09 DLPKGM Type 3 Install diagram, the Unlock input is labeled as "Unlock All".

Well seeing how everything is all taped up, cleaned up, unused wires cut, and that everything is functioning, I think I will leave it as is. I think I can manage to hit the lock / unllock buttons twice.

Thanks!!!

I thought I could handle the double key press thing but it is driving me crazy. If I hit unlock twice too quickly then only one door unlocks. If I take too much time between key presses the same door will try to unlock again. I have to time it just perfectly. I am currently carrying around my factory key fob for lock and unlock and the viper fob for remote start only. Kind of a waste. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reboot the system. I also reprogrammed the XK09 and set the Viper 5701 back to factory defaults and reprogrammed the remote controls. Still the same result. The system behaves the same for single pulse or double pulse no matter what I set the pulse interval to.

When I press the lock button both doors lock but the alarm will not activate unless the lock key is pressed twice (when double pulse lock and unlock option is selected). It behaves the same as the factory key fob (two unlock presses to unlock both doors, one lock press to lock all doors and a second lock press to arm the system). I honestly think this is an issue with the Viper unit itself, not the XK09.

Has anyone else had an issue similar to this? Are all key fob commands finicky like this to where you cannot press the buttons too quickly like a factory fob (by quickly I mean I have to pause between one and two seconds)? If viper can master the remote start you wouldn't think they would have a problem with double pulse lock / unlock.

And your XK09 module doesn't have an option to allow either 1 touch all unlock or 2 touch all unlock?  I know on my XK01 module for my 04 tahoe, there is an option in the module menu to change it to either 1 touch or  2 touch.  1 touch was the default, but I changed it to 2 touch, since I didn't want someone to come running up to the passenger side and getting in the truck if all the doors were unlocked.

After reading through all of the documentation for the XK09 with DLPKGM firmware, I believe the answer is no. I can't find any "optional programming" for it like the XK01 has. Is there a way to test if the viper brain is sending two pulses or one? I want to find for sure if the issue is in the brain or if the pulses are being sent but the XK09 can't process the pulses quickly enough.

Thanks.

Looking thru the manual, I think I'd have to agree with kreg here.

Maybe this is a stupid question but can I use D2D but just hardwire the doorlock wires?
