I have installed a remote start in my old 1999 expedition using the universal bypass (install programed key) I have sold that and bought a 2004 F150 and would like to install a remote start in that. What bypass should I be using? Is there a D2D setup for this truck to minimize the amount of wiring? Any insite would ge great. I have done a search but everything is older and would like to know if there are any new and improved ways of doing things.
There are many bypass modules available for your F150 that don't cause you to loose a key. However, they all require two working, non-clone, keys for programming. Assuming that by D2D, you intend to use a Viper ( DEI) remote start, that will limit your choices. ( Running D2D only saves you 2 wire connections.) The PKALL comes preloaded with firmware and is D2D compatible. Be aware that the PKALL can only be used one time, on one vehicle, so buy it from a trusted source in "brand new, unused condition".
Another excellent choice for the F150 is the DEI 1100F. It has been discontinued and will not connect in D2D mode, but is easy to program and can usually be found for half the price of a PKALL.
Your F150 is fairly easy to do. The DEI 556SW will work but is also discontinued and not D2D compatable. It is a chip type bypass and might be susceptible to cold weather problems. Available "online" for around $13.

OK just ordered a 1100F will keep you posted. I looked at the bulldog site and the install looks like it will be the same as my 99 expedition that I did. How do I get the door locks to work like they do from teh factory? My expedition just locked-unlocked all doors at once not like the 1 time for the drivers door and 2 times for the rest. Thanks again.
Just to double check, you do have two working ignition keys available to program the 1100F?
Is your remote start unit capable of "progressive unlock"? Some are and have a specific output
wire for this function, like the Compustar CM5x00 and CM6x00 units.
Most wire guide lists show only the unlock all wire. The only info I could find is for the
Drivers Unlock Motor wire. It is a RED / Orange wire in the Drivers Kick Panel or at the BCM,
Blue Plug, Pin5. This wire is a "motor" wire and requires a "5 wire" type connection. Here is the

There could be an easier way if a regular Type B (-) Drivers Door Unlock wire is available.

yes I have 2 programed keys. Maybe it would be easier to just have all doors lock and unlock at the same time. Because all that you just posted has my head spinning. Guess I will have to take it all in. I do appreciate all your help.
