Hi, Got a newer 07' dodge ram with avital 2101 alarm. Seems to be in valet mode at least doors lock and unlock, and do it automaticlly in a couple of seconds after starting and turning ignition off. Relays in the unit click when panic is held, can hearit click with transmitter lock and unlock of doors but no horn or light blinks (which is what I need to fix). I dont have a manual, read it online, can't find an installation manual or wiring diag. for this model (probably older model alarm). Looks like it may have been installed by previous owner (kinda sloppy taping not shrink wrapped etc.). Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks very much Jake

Search the downloads section of this site for the viper 211hv. It is the same thing. The manual for it is available.

Is the LED on solid? That would indicate valet mode. To enter or exit valet mode, turn the key on then off, then push and release the valet button all within 10 seconds.

If you don't hear the siren when you hold panic, then you might have a defective siren.

That system is a keyless entry, no siren. Whoever installed it might not have even connected the horn

Or of course it might be in valet mode.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I didn't give all the info I guess I should have. I can't find the valet micro switch to get out of valet mode and the transmitter exit sequence that I did find didn't work. The viper manual idea from dashbogie sounds like the ticket if I can find the correct wires from a diagram I think I can at least hook the horn and make the unit an alarm instead of a power lock unit only. Sorry it took so long to reply I don't have much free time. wasn't sure how to use this forum. Thank you all, Jake

Hi, Iam still working on hooking at least a horn to an alarm on my 07 dodge ram (hope the alarm works not just the door locks) when horn hooks up. Suggestion from dasbogie I looked up a viper 211hv (cant find wiring for avital 2101) and the brown wire goes to horn and the vehicle color of the horn is drk GREEN/ purple (which I can't seem to find yet)but I was wondering can I hook the brown alarm wire straight to the drk GREEN/ purple vehicle horn wire? can I find the wire from the horn under the hood and hook to it to the brn alarm wire if its easier? I see the use of diodes resistors etc. on these forums don't want to fry anything. (not much juice coming from the brn alarm wire). Thanks so much you guys Jake

the horn wire you mention is a - trigger which is just triggering the factory relay, so yes once you find the correct vehicle horn wire you can splice the brown from the avital directly to it. If you find a horn wire under the hood it depends on what polarity it is in order to interface with it. ------------- Advanced

The steering column for the horn wire, not under the hood as that may be after the relay and worst case you will muller the 2101.

yep those 2 wires work but only for the panic button. now i guess i'll have to jump the horn to the lock/unlock wires can I use the same alarm wires? i see resistors Yikes. Jake

The horn trigger wire is in the wire loom comming from the steering wheel, should be pretty easy to find.
