When I bought my car it had a dieing compustar intelliguard 7000 alarm with remote start installed on it. Over the past couple years however it has gone completely downhill and was more of a hinderance than helpfull. Im at a point now where Im looking to sell the car, so I purchased a cheap alarm off ebay basically just to have a keyless entry feature.
After removing the remote start and main brain of the system, the car no longer cranked, which is to be expected. I reconnected the ignition wires and sure enough the engine cranked over and started just fine. I then proceeded to remove basically all of the wiring for the alarm, which was quite a task. When I was satisfied with its removal I installed just the keyless entry, dome light, and parking light features of the new alarm. The starter interrupt was left unhooked. As Im beginning to button things up, I double check that the car still starts, but it wont. It cranks no problem, but it wont catch. Nothing under the hood has been touched, the car hasnt been driven or even moved since this all started. Any and all work has basically been done under the drivers side of the dash and in the drivers kickpanel.
Based upon what's happening it seems to me that it must be spark related. Is it possible that theres some other sort of start disable remnant from the old system? is there even a start disable that would work like this? I assume most if not all just prevent the car from cranking? Is there even a circuit in that area of the car that would cause these symptoms?

some involved security systems had extra disable features like fuel cutoff. it would disable the fuel pump if a would-be thief was intelligent enough to try to jump the starter and get the car to crank. I would ensure that everything you disconnected is properly reconnected where necessary. i.e. you reconnected the starter wire together, make sure any other wires that need to be reconnected get reconnected
As far as I could tell only 2 wires were actually cut, and they have been reconnected. All other wires were simply spliced into. ive been looking around there for a few days now, and recently specifically looked to see if I had missed anything.
