I have an Autostart 2471 two-way remote starter on a 2004 Toyota Sienna. Has been working flawlessly for several months. But in the last few days it repeated the same behaviour twice: one tries to open the doors, remote reports doors open, but no action on the locks.

The first time I didn't have the key to open so I had to call a locksmith. He managed to pry the door and actuate the in-car lock switch and the doors opened perfectly. After having used the door switch, the remote opening seemed to be working again.

Then a few days later exactly the same happened. This time I opened the door with the key, and after that, even without pressing the door switch, the remote was already able to actuate the unlocks.

All the time during this problems the remote start worked, and the lock button did too (you could hear the locks acting even if the doors were already locked). When trying to unlock with the remote, the remote seemed to communicate with the unit but there was no action on the door locks.

Any ideas where to start looking? Unfortunately, I still don't know how to duplicate the problem.

Did you install your remote starter yourself? If yes, did you program you unlock to double pulse?

Yes, I did install it myself. The unlock is indeed programmed to double pulse.

Since I posted it has already happened two more times. Remote claims to open but no lock action. The "lock" button does act, though. I then open one door with the key and the remote unlock immediately works.

I initially thought it could be something mechanical on the locks, but that wouldn't explain that none of the locks makes any noise when trying to unlock under the failure situation.

Are you familiar with relays? I would install a relay to see what happens.

Yes, that's probably what I'll do. Thanks!
