i have installed a clifford 650, i have a problem as i have wired in the 12v and the 2 earths from one of the large gauge black wire connectors as diagram but when i try to put the indicator input wire to 12v it just sparks.

First, what vehicle, year make and model.
You aren't supposed to be installing this, it's a "protected pro only" item so you will get no info from 01420-470 618.
There are three black wires one is a neg. or pos. input feed for the white indicator wires.
The way to tell it apart is with the unit completely disconnected from power and ground (earth)is to take all three wires and probe with a DMM, two will be common, i.e. no resistance between them.

its ok ive sorted it now, used it as and earth switch then reversed polarity with relays back to positive. ive been fitting cliffords on all my cars for over 20 years so know prety much all there is apart from one or two things.

With a 650/650Mkll that extra black wire is grounded if you're feeding a ground trigger indicator such as BMW, Ford GEM box, or Astra pre 05 at the driver kick panel body control module or Toyotas with a NEG trigger at the flasher unit. Other wise for POS indicators, source it from a 12V+ constant via the provided 20amp fuse.

any ideas on how to retrieve the valet code, some saying its part of the serial number on the unit but on my other car same alarm its nothing alike and thats the factory valet code.

It's nowhere on a 650, it was on both the metal case and inside the plastic on the older G4s such as 300,500 and 600, part of the serial number but on G5 you have to use wiz with V2.2 (which you can download), even then it's very glitchy.

yeah i heard that its not great, the guy in the clifford shop i know said so too, so all i need is to get a serial cable or usb if out yet and then can i download the wizard for free?

Yes but it's a serial not USB, I use an old Dell laptop loaded with Win98SP and a downloaded V2.2.

ive only got a mini lappy with windows 7. anygood? any good places to get the cable as i dont wanna pay ebays £40+ if the wizard is free.

a) won't work at all with 7
b) You must have a built in serial port, the adaptors don't work.
