I was wondering if anyone knows of a source of  colour coded (i.e. stripped or dotted) primary wire. I have tried seaching in vain. All the sites I came up with only have solid colours, and limited in amount of colours.

Not specific to model or year. This is for an alarm install. I am tring to keep the wire colour consistent through the harnesss, or at least add a variety of colour combinations to keep wire identification easy.

I have only seen solid colored primary wire, never with lines or dots, sorry.

You can try Del City (www.delcity.net). They sell all sorts of installation supplies, including primary wire and can do custom striping of wire.  Getting the wire striped is pretty pricey, though and I don't know if it would actually be cost-effective for what you have in mind.

Just as a footnote,  some alarms offer monochromatic wiring (typically all black) as a small, but added security feature.

Good luck!

If have to run several wires at once, but I only have one wire color available, I simply take a black Sharpie permanent marker, and make hash marks on the wire.

For example, Let's say I'm running wire to go to four speakers, and each pair of wires is the same brand and color.  I make one hash mark = LF speaker, 2marks=RF speaker, 3marks=LR speaker, 4marks=RR speaker.  I do all my installs the same way so I won't forget how it was done, in case the car comes back in the future for repairs.

If you don't have a marker, you could always wrap a piece or two of tape around each end of  one of the wires do differentiate them
